94 JG. "After the larger than life 2005 Clos de la Dioterie, the 2006 is back down to more classic proportions, as it offers up stunning promise on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is deep and very complex for a wine that is still in its primary stage of evolution, as it offers up notes of dark berries, black cherries, espresso, a bit of tree bark, gravelly soil tones, cigar smoke, a touch of graphite and a touch of blood orange in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, pure, soil-driven and quite structured, with ripe, well-integrated and chewy tannins, sound acids, lovely focus and a very long, complex and primary finish. A superb and extremely classy wine in the making." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #17, Oct 2008 |
