93 WA. "Intensely yellow in color, the 2015 Erbacher Schlossberg Grosses Gewächs offers a deep, intense and elegant bouquet with ripe Riesling fruit aromas intermixed with flinty-mineral notes. Full-bodied and lush on the palate, with a dense and elegant texture and some super ripe fruit flavors, this is a rich, dense and powerful yet elegant dry Riesling from the 2.5-hectare Reinhartshausen monopole. The wine has vibrant acidity that lifts up its full body and rich texture and takes it into a long and aromatic finish with lingering salinity and fine mineral grip. Impressive but rather opulent compared to the more puristic Marcobrunn and Siegelsberg. 13.5% alcohol. Tasted from the wine library in November 2019 (AP 33 16). Tasted three years after release, the Riesling from Schloss Reinhartshausen underlines the increasing quality of this traditional wine from the Lergenmüller family from the Pfalz. Namely, the dry Riesling crus are excellent and so are the Spätlesen. Sweeter predicates tend to be all too sweet and rather disappointing, though. Surely a producer to watch not only due to its almost 682 years of history but also because of the seriously good dry Rieslings." Wine Advocate Interim, Jan 2020 |
