95 NM. "Tasted a the Fine Wine Experience vertical in London. This ’55 has a mature tawny rim with deep dusky core. The nose is just as fine as the last bottle: slightly medicinal at first, ripe red-berried fruit of redcurrant and wild strawberry with a touch of mint, once again that trait of blood orange that lends it the tension. It is a very feminine bouquet, one not dissimilar to the ’59 and furthermore it blossoms in the glass. The palate has great weight, good acidity, not quite as refined as the ’59 or ’64 but more generous with layers of sweet ripe red-berried fruit with an almost honeyed finish. This is perhaps even better than the previous bottle, quite ethereal . . ." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Dec 2008 |
