Lot #172. Petrus 1978

Description: Consists of 2 Bottles, 0.75L
Region: France, Bordeaux, Pomerol.
Score: 18.5 JR.
"Pale, mid rusty-ruby. Sweet liqueur on the palate with a slightly dusty nose. Very sweet start and fully developed with attractive dusty, biscuit (sweet tea biscuit) aromas. Very fresh with more depth than any other 1978 red bordeaux I can remember, but no excess of alcohol. Jewelly texture and freshness and great opulence but in a fresh idiom. Wonderfully complete even if not the headiest, densest Pétrus. Very, very long." JancisRobinson.com, Dec 8 2009
Provenance: The Portuaire Cellar
Notes: 1 x top shoulder, 1 x mid shoulder,2 x corroded, 2 x scuffed, 2 nicked capsules, 2 x lightly scuffed, 1 x wrinkled label.
