Lot #353. Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard 2013

Description: Consists of 2 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 99 RP.
"Absolutely as close to perfection as one probably can get is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a selection of their very best material. This cuvée represents 375 cases aged 20 months in 90% new French oak. Opaque purple in color and more packed and concentrated than its sibling, it is full-bodied, with blackberry and blueberry fruit, perhaps a slight suggestion of charcoal and volcanic earth and burning embers. The wine has huge structure, massive extract and is as packed and stacked as a Cabernet Sauvignon can be. Forget it for 7-10 years and drink it over the following 40-50. This small estate winery burst on the scene in 2005 and it’s never really looked back. Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown has been in charge of winemaking for owners Kathy and Frank Dotzler. Their most acclaimed wines tend to be the Cabernets, but they do a terrific job with Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Grenache. The Grenache is made from John Alban’s clone of Grenache, which I believe came via suitcase-cuttings from Château Rayas vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape." Wine Advocate #221, Oct 2015
