91 ST. ". . . Delicate, highly floral notes of blackberry, violet and crushed stone emerged with aeration. Pungent salty minerality energizes the middle palate of this concentrated, soil-driven wine. This opened nicely with air, eventually showing a silky texture, sappy intensity and excellent inner-mouth vibrancy. Finishes with suave tannins and excellent length. More minerally than the Nuits Bas de Combe . . . . '2013 is a serious vintage,' according to Guillaume Tardy. 'It's always better to have a slightly underripe than a slightly overripe harvest,' he went on. 'We were lucky that the tannins were ripe. The wines have freshness and acidity, and we had to avoid too much extraction for fear of getting harshness and vegetal tastes.' He added that he finds the 2013 tannins suppler than those of 2014, adding that 'everyone waited more than 100 days in 2013; the phenolic maturity came even if alcohol levels are not high.' Tardy's 2013s strike me as thicker than his 2014s without being heavy." Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com, Nov 2015 |
