95 JG. " The 2006 vintage of Clos la Néore from Edmund Vatan is drinking very well at age ten and is just starting to enter into its prime. The bouquet offers up a pure and quite wide open blend of candied lime, complex botanicals, beeswax, crystalline minerality, licorice and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with bright acids, laser-like focus and great length and grip on the pure and very complex finish. A beautiful bottle of wine with years and years of life still ahead of it, but which is now really starting to drink well. It is hard to believe that nearly a decade has passed since I last tasted the 2006 vintage of this superb wine." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2016, Issue #65 |
