Lot #1299. Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon 1974

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 96 RP.
"Unquestionably the youngest wine of the vintage, this black/purple-colored wine exhibits no signs of evolution. In fact, most barrel samples are not this saturated and dense. The youthful, reticent bouquet offers plenty of mineral, blackcurrant, and spicy notes, but, as unbelievable as it may sound, it has not budged in twenty years. Spectacularly concentrated, with some of the deepest, purest extraction levels I have ever encountered, this gigantic, amazingly well-proportioned and balanced wine should last for 20-30 more years. When will it be drinkable? Given its glacial pace thus far, do not expect any signs of evolution until at least the turn of the century. This is a winemaking tour de force, as well as a museum piece!" Wine Advocate #94, Aug 1994
Provenance: The Nantais Cellar
Notes: High shoulder, very lightly wrinkled capsule, lightly bin soiled label.
