99 AM. "(With thanks to Don Stott and Szen Low.) This hadn't come my way since 2010 but it seems impervious to time even though the color is becoming a distinct golden yellow. Otherwise, this is a massive and legendary Ramonet Montrachet that deserves every bit of its acclaim with a superbly complex nose that displays only moderate secondary development, which when you consider the character of this copious vintage, is all the more remarkable. The big, rich, pure and ultra intense and mouth coating flavors reveal enormous depth and a silky texture that has to be experienced to be believed. A great, great effort that will drink well for another 20 years. Consistent notes save for one bottle that displayed a touch of oxidation. Note: I have had bottles labeled as Domaine Ramonet and as Domaine Ramonet-Prudhon." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Feb 2010 |
