95+ JG. "Les St. Georges is simply the most inherently complex cru in the village, and in a vintage like 2009, the Chevillons have produced and absolutely legendary example of this great vineyard. The bouquet is deep, stunningly complex and still very youthful in its mélange of red and black cherries, blood orange, nutskins, kaleidoscopic minerality, coffee bean, bitter chocolate, hints of gamebird and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and flawless, with a sappy core of fruit, stunning transparency, ripe tannins and a very, very long, soil-driven and youthful finish. A great, great wine in the making." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #30, Dec 2010 |
