Lot #357. Arnaud Ente Volnay Santenots du Milieu 1999

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 93+ JG.
"The 1999 Santenots is a terrific bottle of young Volnay. Stylistically, this reminds me very much of Lafarge’s Clos des Chênes, which is high praise indeed. The bouquet is deep and stunning, soaring from the glass in a melange of sweet cassis, plum, dark chocolate, herb tones, woodsmoke, venison, incipient notes of sous bois, strong minerality and a fine framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is very deep and full-bodied, with an almost tensile nature from a combination of stunning acidity, great extract and firm tannins. The wine is rock solid at the black cherry core, with excellent focus and the balance to age brilliantly for decades. Volnay is particularly strong in 1999, and this will be one of the reference point wines from the village." John Gilman, View From The Cellar, Feb 2003
Provenance: The Petry Cellar
