93+ JG. "The sappiness from low yields that is so much in evidence in the best wines of 2010 certainly defines the Mugnerets’ Chaignots in this vintage, as the wine offers up a stunning nose of black cherries, a touch of blood orange, plums, dark chocolate, a wonderfully complex soil signature, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure and tangy, with a great core of fruit, ripe tannins, impeccable focus and balance and a very, very long and laser-like finish. Young Nuits St. Georges simply does not get any more elegant than this wonderful 2010 Mugneret Chaignots." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #36, Dec 2011 |
