de la Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape Les Trois Sources 2010, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Syrah / Cinsault from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône
"A new cuvee for this estate and a blend of 60% Grenache and the rest a mix of Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault that comes from tiny yields of 22 hl/hectare, the 2010 Les Trois Sources delivers a decidedly mineral-drenched array of sweet plum, violets, black licorice, wild flowers, and hints of herbs on the nose. Perfumed, complex, and showing the estate’s hallmark freshness and purity, this full-bodied Châteauneuf-du-Pape is elegant and streamlined on the palate, with beautiful underlying concentration, ripe tannin, and a long finish. It will drink well for 10-12 years." 93, Jeb Dunnuck, Sep 2012

With medium-bodied richness, a solid spine of acidity, building tannins, and straight-up beautiful balance, it's going to benefit from another year or two of bottle age and keep for a decade. 32 Winds Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California
"Slightly more expensive, the single vineyard 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard spent 17 months in 20% new barrels. It's a bigger wine, with a touch more mid-palate density and depth, yet it still has plenty of underlying structure and tannic grip, offering up lots of redcurrant and darker cherry fruit as well as curing spices, smoke, and foresty, earthy notes. Give this rocking effort 2-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade or more. This beauty strikes a good balance between Old World and New World." 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2020

Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"Accendo's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as alluring as it was from barrel. Plush and sensual, with no hard edges, the 2019 possesses magnificent balance from start to finish. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build as this sumptuous, racy Cabernet shows off its tremendous charm. Best of all, the 2019 offers quite a bit of immediacy. I would choose to drink it ahead of some of the more structured recent vintages. As always, the Accendo Cabernet is a blend of several top sites in Napa Valley. Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant. Deep purple-hued, with incredible cassis and blueberry fruit as well as tobacco, graphite, damp earth, leather, and violets, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, layered, seamless texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. This tour de force is going to evolve gracefully for 30 years or more. It's one of the finest wines I've tasted from this estate."98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
"Arietta's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. It will require a number of years to be at its most expressive and for the bouquet to fully open, but all of that potential is there. Deep, layered and so well balanced, the 2019 is impressive right out of the gate. There is so much to look forward to. Inky dark fruit and a whole range of cooler-climate mineral/savory notes typical of Coombsville punctuate the huge, redolent finish." 96 Points, Antonio Galloni

Rainier cherry, cassis and a dusting of baking spice highlight a seamless body of integrated tannin and oak, the wine offering power but also enduring elegance. Bedrock Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, California
"Bedrock Wine Company is the brainchild of Morgan Twain-Peterson, the son of Joel Peterson of Ravenswood Vineyards fame. His Sonoma County bottling of cabernet sauvignon is a blend of casks from the Monticello and Monte Rosso Vineyards (adorned with a bit more production from the less well-known vineyard of Lichau Hill). It was raised in around fifteen percent new wood and comes in listed at 14.5 percent octane. The wine offers up a deep and classy bouquet of red and black cherries, tobacco leaf, a lovely base of soil, roses and a hint of new oak. On the palate the wine is bright, ripe and full-bodied, with a fine core of fruit, firm, well-integrated tannins and a long, nascently complex and slightly warm finish. Big Basin Vineyards Syrah Rattlesnake Rock 2016, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Cruz Mountains, California
"The 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a powerful wine. Red fruit, iron, chalk, white pepper, game and incisive tannins give the 2016 a real feeling of drive that distinguishes it in the range. This is an especially mineral-driven, savory, taut Syrah, with all the elements in the right place. Dried herbs, licorice and crushed flowers add aromatic intrigue. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 gains a bit more volume in bottle. It is such a promising wine. The Côte-Rôtie selection Syrah from John Alban works so well here." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"From the home estate in the Santa Cruz Moutains, the 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a firm, mineral-laced, yet concentrated and textured Syrah that's going to benefit from bottle age. Red and black fruits, spiced meat, bacon fat, and dried flower notes are just some of its nuances. A concentrated, classic mountain Syrah, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise . . ." 94+ Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2016 Rattlesnake Rock bottling of syrah from Big Basin is one of their estate vineyard bottlings, as these vines were planted in 2000 in this windy parcel that sits between thirteen hundred and fourteen hundred feet above sea level. The 2016 version includes one-third whole clusters, was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for twenty-one months in used, three hundred liter barrels. The cépages here includes two percent of viognier that was co-fermented with the syrah. The wine comes in at 13.9 percent octane and offers up a deep and properly reserved bouquet of cassis, black raspberry, grilled meats, pepper, a touch of black olive, fine stony soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with a superb core of fruit, firm, ripe tannins and outstanding balance and grip on the long, nascently complex and very, very promising finish. There is a strong vein of iron in the soils here and this really comes across on the backend here. This is outstanding syrah in the making, with plenty of structure and outstanding depth of fruit. Think of old school Hermitage with a different, stony soil signature." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Chanin Syrah Schock Family Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Barbara County, California
"This is a cooler-climate Syrah done with the light touch of a Pinot Noir master. The nose is extremely peppery, reminiscent of a tour through a Tellicherry peppercorn factory, yet with tart cranberry, rust and soil elements as well. The palate is immensely grippy with more white pepper as well as charcoal and brisk red-fruit flavors. It will also cellar very well." 95 Points Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast
"The 2018 Syrah Schock Family Vineyard is Gavin Chanin's first Syrah, and it is fabulous. Deep and rich, but not at all heavy, the 2018 has so much to offer. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2018 is an embryonic wine at this stage. What comes across is the wine's exceptional balance and harmony. Time will be needed for Syrah aromatics to emerge." 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Malbec / Petite Verdot / Merlot from Napa Valley, California
"This is very complex, with blackcurrants, tobacco and cedar. Some sandalwood and terra-cotta, too. Medium-to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are creamy-textured and so long and pure. Attractive and complex. 77% cabernet sauvignon with petit verdot, malbec and merlot. So good now to drink, but will age beautifully. Drink or hold." 95, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature is a terrific wine and a big overachiever in its price range. Black cherry, plum, mocha, lavender, spice, licorice and new leather lend tons of complexity to this bold, luscious Cabernet. This overt, upfront Cabernet offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal." 93, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
"Always a smoking value that readers shouldn't miss, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature sports a dense purple color to go with beautiful cassis and blueberry-like fruits as well as bouquet garni, spice, and obvious, rocky mineral-like aromas and flavors. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with notable structure and good acidity, it's going to keep for two decades in cold cellars. It's a candidate for the best Napa Cabernet under $100." 94 Jeb Dunnuck

Continuum Proprietary Red Sage Mountain Vineyard 2021, 0.75L

"Deep purple-black in color, it hits the ground running with an intense nose of red and black currant preserves, lilacs, baker's chocolate, and graphite, leading to an undercurrant of black olives and red loam. On the medium to full-bodied palate it is very lively, grainy and super-concentrated, finishing long and shimmery.” 98-100, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent
“This is so aromatic with blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, iron, pine bark and orange peel. Hints of wild sage and peppermint. Seductive perfumes. Full-bodied with extremely well-integrated tannins that have great length. Elegant firmness at the finish. The quality of the tannins is some of the best I have had in a young Continuum. Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage. One of the things I love about the 2019 is the way it conveys power and density, but without weight. In that sense, it is perhaps atypical for Napa Valley Cabernets in this vintage. Even so, I find the sense of beauty here absolutely beguiling. The 2019 Kronos is an absolutely stunning wine. I could describe the aromas and flavors, but that seems pretty banal for a wine that is so clearly towering in its splendor. Don't miss it. Cathy Corison’s 2019s are superb. It’s hard to imagine that a producer with such a long and distinguished track record could still find an extra gear, but Corison has. 2019 was the first year in which farming was entirely brought in-house, and that seems to have made a difference. The devil is in the details, as they say. Corison describes 2019 as warmer than 2018, especially in the critical months of August and September, with lower yields overall." 98 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Deep ruby-purple, it's classy and defined, with aromas of black and blueberry jam, violet, milk chocolate, fried herbs and coffee beans. The full-bodied palate's youthfully concentrated fruits are supported by an abundance of silky tannins and offers notable freshness that lifts the finish. Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"Primarily from the Hardester Ranch in Pope Valley, with other major contributions from St. Helena, Soda Canyon and Glass Mountain, it's a medium to full-bodied effort, with bold flavors of cherries, cassis and cedar. It's easy, but not soft, nicely firm, with a long, silky-textured finish. Craig and Kathryn Hall Sacrashe-d onto the Napa Valley wine scene with the 1994 purchase of the Sacrashe property, at the eastern edge of the Rutherford AVA. Craig was a successful businessman; Kathryn's family had owned a vineyard in Mendocino when she was growing up. From 1997–2001, Kathryn served as U.S. ambassador to Austria, which put a brief hold on the couple's plans to expand their wine business, but in 2001, they purchased the property on Highway 29 that has become their signature attraction. Mike Reynolds came on board in 2002 as winemaker and has since been promoted to president; my extensive tasting visit was conducted with the winery's current vice president of winemaking, Megan Gunderson, who joined Hall in 2005 as an enologist." 90 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Raschen Ridge 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California
"An incredibly Burgundian bouquet of spiced tart cherry fruit as well as leafy herbs, forest floor, and damp earth emerge from the 2018 Pinot Noir Raschen Ridge. A medium-bodied, spicy, lively Pinot Noir, it has terrific overall balance, a bright spine of acidity, and outstanding length on the finish. It’s not a blockbuster by any stretch of the imagination, but I love its overall tension, it has remarkable balance, and it’s just loaded with charm. Give bottles 2-3 years of bottle age, and I would not put it past this wine to keep for 10-15+ years after that." 95+ Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Raschen Ridge is rich, deep and explosive. In this vintage, the 2018 is so racy and expressive. Right out of the bottle, the Raschen Ridge is stellar. Crushed flowers, kirsch, red and purplish berry fruit and cedar all race out the glass. The interplay of fruit richness, power and structure is compelling. The 2018 needs a few years in bottle to unwind, but it is impressive." 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"With ripe, succulent and velvety red fruits flavours, this is the most forward of Hirsch's 2018 Pinots. Herbal, beaming and energetic aromas continue from through to the long finish, which shows off persistent, elegant tannins. This expressive, livewire wine comes from high-density, 20-year-old vines at 480m – the highest elevation vineyards planted at Hirsch." 95 Matthew Luczy, Decanter Magazine

Even with all of its flavor intensity, the 2021 remains light on its feet. There's plenty of whole cluster savoriness, but the stems are very nicely integrated.” 96, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2023

Melville Syrah Estate Santa Rita Hills 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from Sta. Rita Hills, California
“The 2021 Syrah Estate, vinified with 40% whole clusters, has a medium to deep ruby color and pretty aromatic nuances of peppercorn, earth, mint and cocoa and a core of blueberry and blackberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated and detailed with chalky tannins, sparks of mouthwatering acidity and a long, fragrant finish. Aromatically complex and structurally harmonious, it has plenty more to offer as it unwinds in bottle over the next 3-5 years. 1,023 cases produced.” 96, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2022, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California
“Boasting a rich magenta/ruby hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is classic and very much in the style lovers of this estate have come to expect. It’s ripe with notes of fresh black cherries, scorched earth, violets, and dark forest earth. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with sweet tannins and is generous without feeling heavy. Long on the finish and fully dry. It’s a very well-styled Pinot Noir from this challenging vintage that’s going to drink well over the next 6-8 years.” 94, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2024

Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Cruz Mountains, California
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is going to need a number of years to come around. The only question is how many. In 2017, the Mount Eden Cabernet is shockingly opulent. Inky black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, leather and incense are all dialed up in this super-sized Cabernet. Even so, there is plenty of structure lurking beneath. I can't wait to see how this ages. (Drink between 2027-2042)" 97, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

"The 2019 Pinot Noir Estate was fermented with 35% whole clusters and aged in 50% new French oak. Newfound Gravels California 2019 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignane from California, California
Sourcing
In 2019 we transitioned Gravels from a Grenache dominant wine to a 50/50 marriage of Grenache and Carignane. The Grenache was sourced entirely from the Cemetery Vineyard and the Carignane entirely from the Colombini Ranch. Both sites contain similar geology and are planted in (the simplest of terms) gravel. The Grenache and all of its perfume and elegance combined with the density and nerve of the Carignane were the perfect match for our second iteration of ‘Gravels’. Thirty days separated the picks - as the Grenache arrived toward the end of August with the Carignane completing our harvest as the final pick coming in at the end of September.
Vinification
When vinifying the wine our extraction techniques favored elegance over abundance. The lots were fermented separately but employed similar methods – 100% whole cluster, wild yeasts, one simple cap-wetting per day - spending up to 35 days in total on the skins. The Grenache was aged in one 2000L Austrian oval barrel, while the Carignane was aged in one 2000L French Foudré. A total of 14 months were spent in each vessel before assembly at which point the wines were racked, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting
Deep black cherry, herbal sage brush, lavender and melon rind aromatics. That palate combines density and a snappy freshness that makes this bottling a versatile companion for any meal or occasion. Drink now or over the next five years.

Opus One 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet / Merlot / Petit Verdot / Cabernet Franc / Malbec from Napa Valley, California
"A classical vintage that perfectly suits the Opus style. Gorgeous vivid plum colour, sculpted, balanced, with a ton of lift, waves of rose petals, iris and peony, soft grilled cumin, sage and white pepper spice. Love the hidden power here and the supple slightly chalky tannins that are structured in their architecture with a precision and carved quality. Precise, layered and stretched out, a brilliant Opus, concentrated and yet delicate. Feels pared back and captures the spirit of early Opus, when it moved forward the conversation of what Napa could be. Michael Silacci director, 100% new oak for ageing extremely well integrated even now." 100, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Aug 2024
"An enticing aroma of violets, cherry blossoms, fresh blue and black fruit and great structure define this beautiful, age-worthy wine. Subtle layering of fruit and oak spices between firm, fine-grained and supportive tannins gives it a calm intensity. So elegant and polished. Hints of cinnamon and graphite accent blackcurrant and blueberry flavors that linger and grow in a long finish. Already attractive to drink, but best after 2029." 99, James Suckling, Jul 2024
"The 2021 Opus One is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% each of Merlot and Malbec. It was bottled in July 2023. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out of the glass with gregarious notions of creme de cassis, wild blueberries, and redcurrant jelly followed by hints of cedar chest, sassafras, vanilla pod, and dark chocolate plus a waft of lilacs. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers shimmery red, black, and blue fruit layers with a firm texture of rounded tannins and impressive tension, finishing long and fragrant." 98, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent

Opus One 'Overture' 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Napa Valley, California
"Vivid cherry red, medium intensity, pared back and moreish. Enticing charred plum and spiced black cherry, restrained and savoury, chalky tannins, good lift through the palate without losing the creaminess of the fruit, a dusting of cocoa powder adds a gourmet twist. 65% new oak for ageing. 2021 was a very dry vintage (2nd driest in history of Opus) but there were few extremes of temperature, and this is a delicious Overture. First one with a vintage on the label, after a few years of slowly moving that way. Impressive, easy to recommend". 93, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Aug 2024

Orin Swift Proprietary Red Abstract 2022, 0.75L
Grenache / Petite Sirah / Syrah from Napa Valley, California
"The 2022 Abstract pours a dark purple core with a neon, ruby rim. The nose is quintessential Abstract but with a broodier twist-notes of ripe black plum, cacao, black pepper, cedar, dried porcini, forest floor musk and sweet oak. The entry is coating and flooding with hints of blueberry preserves, tarragon, balsamic glaze and anise. Bright and lifting through the palate, the finish offers an umami note akin to eggplant yakitori." Winemaker Notes

Orin Swift Proprietary Red Eight Years in the Desert 2022, 0.75L
from Napa Valley, California
."At first glance, the 2022 Eight Years in the Desert looks to be almost black, but after closer inspection, a dark crimson starts to shine through with a tinge of purple on the rim. The nose is rife with notes of ripe blueberry, black plum, wild raspberry, espresso bean, sweet oak and a hint of crème de menthe and cedar. The entry is akin to walking through a tunnel of velvet walls with blackberry jam, reduced strawberry and a touch of rhubarb. Bright acidity throughout the palate, the wine closes with round, ripe tannins, fresh plot and dark chocolate." Winery Notes
