Malescot St. Exupery 2014, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Margaux, Bordeaux

“Dark currants and berries with walnuts on the nose. Follows through to a full body, integrated tannins and a gorgeous finish. Exciting. Wow.” 96, James Suckling, Feb 2017

“I put the 2014 Malescot St-Expuery up with the crème de la crème of this vintage and it offers a wonderfully complete, balanced, concentrated style offers loads of class and personality. With loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruits intermixed with notions of graphite/lead pencil, spring flowers, and damp earth, it’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, layered, and ripe, with sweet tannin and rock-solid underlying acidity. This is a straight up gorgeous, classy, elegant Margaux that’s going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and shine for 15-20 years. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to taste the 2015 for this report.” 93+, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2017

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from La Tâche, Burgundy

“The 2014 La Tâche Grand Cru was picked on 17, 18 and 20 September at 32 hectoliters per hectare, bottled between 1 and 25 April 2016. It has a quite startling bouquet: dark berry fruit, bay leaf, hints of jasmine tea and autumn leaves. It delivers multi-faceted aromatics, a mercurial bouquet, brown spices emerging with continued aeration in the glass. It is a tad more forward than I expected. The palate is medium-bodied with great structure and fine grip. This is a slightly more masculine La Tâche and replicating its performance in barrel, the fruit spectrum shimmies from red to black (incidentally, exactly as I observed when I tasted it in barrel). There is a lovely lift on the finish that leaves you with a piquant kiss on the cheek. This is wonderful. 1,929 cases produced. Tasted February 2017.” 96, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

“Fireworks in a glass would be the operative description of the super-fresh nose of the 2014 La Tâche and while it's not necessarily spicier or more floral than the Riche, there is a broader range of elements present and in particular better overall aromatic depth. The imposingly powerful and tautly muscular flavors possess outstanding mid-palate density while simultaneously offering excellent delineation on the intensely mineral-infused, youthfully austere and very firmly structured finish that just goes on and on. While I suspect that this will drink reasonably well after only 15 to 18 years of bottle age note well that if you want to drink it when fully mature it will require in the range of 25 years of cellaring.” 94-96, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2016

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2014, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

“The 2014 Blanc de Blancs is seriously impressive. Ample in feel, Delamotte is especially rich in 2014, and yet there is plenty of freshness to balance things out. This is an especially savory style for Delamotte, and one that works so well. Dried lemon peel, pastry, almond, dried herbs and chamomile open in a beautifully translucent Blanc des Blancs that marries power and finesse. I can’t wait to see how it ages.” 94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2021

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Gran Reserva 2014, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

“The 2014 Señorío de P Peciña Gran Reserva feels quite developed and tertiary with notes of iodine, brick dust, sweet spices and a polished mouthfeel. It feels like a lighter Gran Reserva with a more delicate palate, 13.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.45. Ideal with food. It matured in used American oak barrels for 48 months and was racked every six months. 7,000 bottles were filled in November 2019.” 92, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Feb, 2024

Faustino Rioja I Gran Reserva 2014, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Rioja, La Rioja

"Brooding depth with excellent complexity. There’s an attractive umami touch along with notes of dried black mushrooms, dark spices, pine cones, dark chocolate, focused blackberries and dark cherries. It has a full body and fine-veined tannins. Juicy, fleshy and long, but still quite reserved. An exemplary, well-rounded Rioja gran reserva that’s already approachable, but will improve in the next four to eight years." 94, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling, Jul 2024

Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature 2014, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9/% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, is a classic example of Pritchard Hill, Chappellet and of Napa Valley. Brilliant purity, a dense purple color, superb blackberry and floral-infused blueberry fruit and cassis, a full-bodied mouthfeel, moderate but sweet tannin and a long, layered, texture and finish make for a profound Cabernet Sauvignon that actually sells at a bargain price for what is in the bottle. Moreover, look for it to evolve graciously for another 20+ years. Chappellet is the pioneer that, in the last 1960s, first began planting vineyards on what is now one of the hottest viticultural regions of Napa Valley – Pritchard Hill. Even though Pritchard Hill isn’t entitled to an AVA, there is no question that the 15 or 16 wineries are up there are producing world-class wines, and it all started with the efforts of Molly and Don Chappellet in the late 1960s. The 1969 Cabernet Sauvignon they made with the help of Philip Togni remains one of the greatest Napa Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted, and is still vigorous at age 47." 94+ Robert M. Parker, Jr., Wine Advocate

"Aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, mushrooms and spices. Full and very intense with lots of fruit. Firm and silky. Plenty of tension. Layered and intense." 94 JamesSuckling.com

Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Gary`s Vineyard 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Santa Lucia Highlands, California

"One of the top examples I was able to taste from this terrific vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2014 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is a big, rich, concentrated effort that gives up full-bodied notes of savory herbs, scrub brush, black currants and the classic savory, earthy and mineral characteristics that this site is known for. Fermented with 25% whole clusters, it has lots of texture, lots of tannin, and lots of length. It's a smokin' wine . . . . This was another rock star lineup from Kosta Browne and it’s certainly one of the most impressive lineups I tasted all year. And while I generally consider 2013 to be a better vintage than 2014, these 2014s are a step up over last year’s releases, which were no slouches either. The estate continues to use moderate amounts of whole clusters for their reds, and aging occurs in varying amounts of French oak (and recently, some concrete). While these are big, rich wines, they’re in no way over the top and the vast majority have classic, structured and age-worthy profiles. Other producers at this level are few and far between." 95 Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

Realm Cellars Proprietary Red The Absurd 2014, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Napa Valley, California

"A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, is the 2014 The Absurd, basically a choice of their finest barrels, or as winemaker and owner Benoit Touquette says, “The crème de la crème.” This is another perfect wine equaling their incredible 2013. Yet the 2014 is slightly more forward and showy, as many 2013s are just beginning to shut down. There are 250 cases of this majestic wine that has an opaque purple color, extraordinary nose of spring flowers, blueberry, blackberry, creosote, charcoal, toast and spice. The wine has unbelievable fruit on the attack, midpalate and finish, compelling purity, texture and a finish of close to a full minute. It is (as advertised by the winery) a 'showcase of the best of Napa Valley with the freedom of expression that results from no rules." 100, Robert M. Parker, Jr, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2014, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, California

“After a decade, the 2014 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet remains remarkably youthful, just beginning to shed its baby fat. Savoury notes of coriander, cedarwood, and sage leap from the glass. Medium-bodied, with taut, elongated tannins with crisp edges and an assertive presence. There’s so much power here that the dusty red currant fruit and violet perfume are somewhat muted, lingering in the background, waiting for the tannins to soften. A wine still evolving, with plenty of life ahead.” 93, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter, Sep 2024
