Benjamin Leroux Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"Very typical of Nuits-St-Georges, with a dark plummy fruit, notes of earth and mineral, and an almost savoury edge to it - slightly rustic, yet still very refined. The grapes from this 0.4ha parcel were fermented as 60% whole-cluster, which imparts a slight edge of herbs or menthol to the wine, but this amplifies in a good way the slightly sauvage character. Delicious." 94 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine

"Background hints of wood and menthol are present on the super-spicy aromas of black cherry, raspberry and a plenitude of floral wisps. The sleek, intense and very rich medium weight plus flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel that possess notably better punch on the youthfully austere, balanced and impressively persistent finale. This is sufficiently compact that it's going to need at least a few years of keeping first." 92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Benjamin Leroux Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Hauts Jarrons 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy

"The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Jarrons 1er Cru has an attractive nose with dark berry fruit, crushed stone, briary and touches of Earl Grey. Quite complex. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, fine grip with a vibrant and slightly minty finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2025-2040)" 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous.com

Benjamin Leroux Vosne-Romanée 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"Ben Leroux has produced a series of textbook wines in 2017, with clear differences between the terroirs and villages. This sees two-thirds whole-bunch fruit - the portion that comes from the Aux Ravioles lieu-dit close to the border with Nuits-St-Georges is destemmed - and is matured in one-third new oak. It's brimming with sappy, juicy red berry flavours and beguiling sweetness." 92 Tim Atkin MW, Decanter

"The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village, one of Leroux’s largest cuvées at 31 barrels, a large proportion sourced from Flagey-Echézeaux, has a fragrant bouquet with white flowers complementing the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate displays supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, silky-smooth texture and a tart red cherry and orange peel finish that is quite spicy on the aftertaste. Good potential. (Drink between 2021-2033)" 90-92 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Bessin-Tremblay Chablis 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Not surprisingly, having only been in bottle for one week, the 2020 Chablis AC from Domaine Bessin is a little shaken up post-bottling, but it is also abundantly clear that there is excellent depth and transparency here, coupled to lovely acidity and plenty of length and grip. Based on how well the wines that were still in tank showed, I have zero doubt that this wine too will deliver lovely precision and focus as well, once it has recovered from the mise. The bouquet offers up scents of apple, pear, chalky soil tones, a touch of citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely balanced, with excellent material at the core, fine mineral undertow, zesty acids and impressive length and grip. The focus will snap back here once it recovers from the bottling and will be a lovely bottle of AC. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 90-91, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

"An overtly floral nose speak of ocean breeze, citrus and an interesting hint of crushed mint leaf. The delicious, fleshy and relatively forward medium-weight flavors possess an appealing texture along with a lingering finish that is brightened by refreshing hints of acid tang and bitter lemon. A quality villages that should drink well young." 89, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Bret Brothers La Soufrandiere Saint-Veran La Bonnode Ovoide Cuvée Zen 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Saint-Véran, Burgundy

“This cuvée comes from grapes grown at the foot of the rock of Vergisson. There is a lovely, salty mineral edge to the apricot and nectarine fruit aromas, and a dynamic, lively balance on the palate that draws the wine to a lingering finish. The wine is fermented and aged in concrete eggs and finished with six more months of ageing in tank. The result marries complexity with superb purity of fruit.” 92 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine

Bret Brothers La Soufrandière Pouilly Fuisse En Chatenay 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pouilly Fuissé, Burgundy

"This impressive wine boasts lovely aromas of lemon peel and mineral with a floral edge. The body is lively and fresh, with bright acidity, medium body, and enough extract to drive a long finish. The grapes come from a 0.69-hectare parcel at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. The old-vine Chardonnay was pressed directly without crushing and fermented in old oak casks, where it will stay for two full winters. No sulfur is used until bottling, and at that point, a de minimus 20 mg/litre is added.” 93 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine

Bret Brothers Pouilly Fuisse En Terres de Vergisson 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pouilly Fuissé, Burgundy

"This marvelously incisive Pouilly-Fuissé is a blend of two parcels in Vergisson with two different soil types; both are cool terroirs that bring an exotic tropical note of passionfruit and pomelo to the wine along with a strong mineral underpinning. The texture has a lively acidity, but there is real ripeness to give the wines a delicious dynamic balance. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters, and the juice is fermented in older oak casks. (Drink between 2023-2033)" 92 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pommard, Burgundy

"One of the best Côte de Beaune reds of the vintage. The four blocks that make up the blend of this justly celebrated Pommard Premier Cru red amount to 5.23ha and range in age between 36 and 100 years' old. Aged in one third new wood, it has spice and tobacco pouch top notes, layers of red berry fruit, fresh acidity and firm, yet granular tannins.(Drink between 2024-2035)" 96 Tim Atkin MW, Decanter

"As usual, I sampled the various constituents of the cuvée before tasting a representative blend of the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux, and as ever, the whole is superior to the sum of the parts. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of raspberries, cherries, peonies, spices, orange rind, cassis, woodsmoke and espresso roast, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its lively and concentrated core of fruit framed by rich structuring tannins, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This promises to number among the Côte de Beaune's wines of the vintage, and it will be well worth seeking out." 93-95 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Denis Bachelet Cotes de Nuits Villages 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Cotes de Nuits, Burgundy

"The 2020 Côte de Nuits-Villages wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis and dark berries, framed by a deft touch of spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with tangy acids and a long, penetrating finish. As I've written before, if there's a sleeper in the portfolio of this sought-after domaine, this cuvée—from the lieu-dit Queue de Hareng in Brochon—is it." 91-92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2020

Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"A lively full purple colour with scarlet rim. This sample has a slightly oxidative nose which is unlikely to be representative of the wine. Fine poised classy with fine-grained tannins plenty of them but they are fine enough with a medium to long finish." 90-92 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

"The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village has a well-defined bouquet with dark cherries, raspberry coulis and rose petal scents, forward yet focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good acidity, a little savory towards the finish with fine length." 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous

Lignier Michelot Bourgogne Rouge 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Burgundy, Burgundy

"An even fresher, and much more floral-infused, nose blends both black berry fruit and violet with a spicy top note. Here too there is a beguiling texture to the vibrant and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that possess excellent depth and persistence for a wine at this level. Warmly recommended." 87-89 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Lignier Michelot Morey Saint Denis Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

"The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes contains 80% whole bunches. It has an opulent bouquet ... of dates and fig filtering through the black fruit but still fresh. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf, opening up nicely on the finish that cruises along with a sprinkling of white pepper and cumin." 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous

"80% whole bunch. From Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery. Rich deep purple with a much more concentrated fruit on the nose, lifted a little by the whole bunches. Plump dark fruit, spicy notes, fills the mouth out, slightly darker fruit than En la Rue de Vergy and will take a little longer." 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

"From a blend of Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery; 80% whole cluster. This too is quite aromatically pretty with its ripe and fresh array of floral, spice and black currant that is laced with warm earth hints. There is excellent volume to the caressing yet powerful and concentrated medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a robust, serious and youthfully austere finale that offers even better depth and persistence. Excellent and recommended though note well that this is firmly structured for a Morey villages, so patience required." 89-92 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Michel Lafarge Clos des Aigrots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune, Burgundy

"The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru has an airy bouquet, very transparent with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, the 15% new oak nearly integrated. Very minerally. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. This is a strict and mineral driven Beaune, very tensile but with ample weight and concentration on the finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2045)" 92-94, Neal Martin, Vinous.com

"A notably more floral-suffused nose is attractively high-toned with its fresh aromas of essence of red currant and cherry. The super-sleek, intense and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are finer but not denser on the tension-filled and wonderfully refreshing finale. This will need to add depth and is a wine that could be approached young if desired." 90-92, Allen Meadows, Burghound
