Antinori Rosso di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne 2020, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany

"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is dark yet perfumed, with lavender and violet tones giving way to masses of ripe plum and cherry. Balsam herbs and hints of chalk develop with time in the glass, adding further depths. This is silky and round, with juicy acidity enlivening its ripe red and hints of blue fruit. Sweet spices, hints of cocoa and licorice linger, as the 2020 tapers off long with just a hint of fine tannin. This showboat of a Rosso is going to win a lot of hearts." 90, Eric Guido, Vinous.com

"Bright, scintillating ruby red color. Fresh raspberry, pomegranate, and some mint on the nose. Precise, fresh berry fruit on the palate, showing perky tannins; very drinkable." 91 Falstaff Magazin

Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bolgheri 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Syrah from Bolgheri, Tuscany

"Fabio Motta is one of the best performers in Bolgheri among the small producers of the next generation. Almost ready with his new winery, it represents a kind of garagiste in the appellation. He ferments all the wines with natural yeast and manages careful extraction and maceration. His original blend for Le Gonnare sees an addition of Syrah to complete the 85% of Merlot and is aged in 1/3 new French oak barriques. Intense and perfumed it shows kiwi peel and cedar wood aromas, loaded with restrained cassis and bitter orange flavour. The attack is dense and ripe with elegant texture and chewy tension on the finish." 95 Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine

"Extremely complex and darkly primary in profile, with alternating notes of black plum, blackberry, incense, black tea leaves, licorice stick, and sandalwood. The palate is splendid, combining notes of blood orange and cut cedar. Full bodied with soft tannins, good structure, and a horizontal finish . . ." 92 Raffaele Vecchione, mmt.WinesCritic.com

Ficomontanino Toscana Rosso Granomelo 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Tuscany

"Dusty cherry and crushed fall leaves evolve slowly into a deeper display of citrus-tinged raspberries, cinnamon and sweet white smoke as the 2018 Rosso Granomelo blossoms in the glass. This seduces with a silky wave of pure, ripe red berries and spices, as brilliant acidity lends vibrancy and saline-mineral tones add a salty flair. The 2018 has energy to burn, coming across as primary and wild, yet also refined. An herbal twang and grippy tannins collect toward the close. It leaves the palate classically dry, caked with an almost-chalky coating; however, it’s mouthwatering all the same. The contrasts here keep you guessing with each tilt of the glass, a mix of sheer drinkability and noble stature. This is a gorgeous glass of Sangiovese. The Granomelo hails from Ficomontanino’s Melogranino vineyard. It goes through spontaneous fermentation with a two-month maceration, and then refines completely in concrete. I’ll be following this wine closely in the vintages to come. A selection of inspired Tuscan wines arrived from Maria Sole at Ficomontanino. This is a 12-hectare property located in the extreme southeast of Tuscany, bordering Umbria and Lazio. In fact, geographically speaking, the climate here is closer to northern Lazio and mountainous Umbria than it is to Tuscany. The vineyards were originally planted by Maria Sole's grandfather in the 1960s, yet winemaking was more of a hobby for him. She took the reins of the family farm from her father after being bitten by the wine bug and was inspired by the likes of Tenute Dettori in Sardinia. Her education at Slow Food’s University of Culinary Arts at Pollenzo is also a huge influence in the winemaking here, choosing natural practices in the vineyards, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations, neutral aging vessels, no fining or filtration, and a minimum use of sulfur. In the end, Maria Sole really seems to be onto something, delivering a transparent and honest representation of terroir." 93 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2012, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Colli Toscana Centrale, Tuscany

"The 2012 Flaccianello della Pieve, a selection of the estate's best fruit, presents a darker, more virile expression of Sangiovese. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is truly striking. Cinnamon, cloves, new leather, licorice and plums are some of the notes that soar from the glass. The 2012 is full-bodied and voluptuous, in classic Flaccianello style, but the new French oak is much better integrated than it often is at this stage, the result of a move to lower toast levels over the last few years. This is one of the finest young Flaccianellos I can remember. Simply put, the 2012 Flaccianello is a real stunner. Wow .... Vinous readers know I regard the Sorbo as Fontodi's flagship wine. While the 2012 is truly stratospheric, so is the Flaccianello. Judging by those two wines, it is clear Mother Nature smiled on Fontodi in 2012 ..." 97 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"Manetti calls 2012 'the vintage of two faces': summer was very hot until mid-August, when some rain brought cooler temperatures which slowed down ripening. In chillier zones than Panzano, Sangiovese struggled to ripen, he says. Even more expressive than when it was initially released, the 2012 has a decidedly exotic manner. Saffron, liquorice and cardamom overlay violets and earth. The tannins are polished with an intriguing chalky texture. It's compact and full but balanced, with a core of vibrant acidity and a long explosive finish. This has the bones to age brilliantly." 97 Michaela Morris, Decanter Magazine

Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino 2020, 0.75L
Brunello from Montalcino, Tuscany

"The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is bright and loaded with a fresh, buoyant personality focused on red cherry, cassis and bitter almond. There are hints of ferrous earth and crushed aspirin that add extra contours and edging to this fun, easy-drinking Rosso. I certainly wouldn't mind this bottle next to a classic wood-fired pizza Margherita, but only 6,000 bottles were made, so I imagine availability will be limited." 91, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Le Potazzine Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Aromas of crushed mint, pressed rose and perfumed berry mingle with warm spice in this dazzling red. Thanks to some of the highest vineyard altitudes in the denomination, it boasts vibrancy and finesse in its flavors of ripe black cherry, juicy blood orange, licorice and crushed mint. Taut, elegant tannins and fresh acidity keep it balanced and focused." 97 Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast

"The ladies of Le Potazzine make a terrific bottle of Brunello, and their high-elevation vineyards are especially important in maintaining freshness in a scorching-hot vintage such as this. The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pretty succession of wild berry, cherry and plum aromas, along with light spice, crushed flowers and perfumed potting soil. This wine is also distinguished by a touch of bay leaf and maybe a warmer note of cured tobacco as well. This is an impressive effort." 95 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Montenidoli Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2022, 0.5L
Olive Oil from San Gimignano, Tuscany

"Olives have been grown at Montenidoli since Etruscan time. We currently grow the Moraiolo and Correggiolo varieties; the former provides body, the latter perfume. Our olive trees are organically grown and pruned yearly. The harvest, by hand, begins in November and continues until just before Christmas. Our EVO [extra virgin olive] oil is in fact extra extra virgin: at the time of pressing its acidity is less than 0.20%, which is far below the 1% maximum allowed acidity for EVO oils. Montenidoli’s EVO oil emerges from the presses opaque and brash, with powerful vegetal aromas. Throughout its youth, it remains strongly flavored, with pronounced artichoke accents that make it more of a food to be served over bread than a condiment. Our EVO oil is extremely healthy; It’s an excellent source of good (LDL) cholesterol and is rich in vitamins." Montenidoli

Montepeloso Eneo IGT 2020, 0.75L
Montepulciano / Sangiovese from Toscana, Tuscany

"This is a blend of 65% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malvasia Nera from a warm vintage. The 2020 Eneo doesn't have the same pulp and mass that we see in the 2019 vintage; however, it does show lots of richness and intensity, especially in terms of bouquet. Perhaps the aromas are more focused and sharp in this wine, and there is a pretty mineral note that cuts a through line connecting the bouquet to the medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. This vintage feels more accessible compared to the 2019, and the alcohol content is a high 15%. Production is 29,000 bottles". 96, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2023

Montesecondo Chianti Classico 2021, 0.75L
Sangiovese / Canaiolo / Colorino from Chianti Classico, Tuscany

"The 2021 Chianti Classico is one of the wines of the vintage in the Chianti Classico 'Annata' category. Rich, layered and super-expressive, the 2021 offers up red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, lavender and spice race across the palate. The Montesecondo Chianti Classico raises the simple question of why there aren't more wines like this." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore 2021, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend Red from Bolgheri, Tuscany

“The 2021 Ornellaia captures all the magic of this sensational vintage on the Tuscan Coast. Rich, ample and expansive, with tremendous polish, the 2021 is pure class. Dark-toned fruit, mocha, espresso, licorice, plum and dried herbs abound. The tannins are present but also beautifully integrated, as is the French oak. There was a time not too long ago when young wines here needed years in bottle to drink well. That's not at all the case with the 2021. The blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot works so well. New oak was 70%.” 99, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2024

“Aromas of blackcurrants, iodine, crushed stone, hints of mint and sage. Blue fruits. Full-bodied with chewy tannins that open with air. It’s racy and very long. Very tannin driven and energetic with power and focus. Muscular and very toned. This is the best Ornellaia for the cellar in years. Try after 2030.” 99, James Suckling, Nov 2023

Piaggia Poggio de'Colli Toscana 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Carmignano, Tuscany

"The darkly alluring 2020 Cabernet Franc Poggio de' Colli takes its time in the glass, slowly awakening with a dusty mix of red currants, pepper-tinged rose, exotic curries and the slightest touch of animal musk that adds gravitas. This is velvety smooth yet finessed. It's cool-toned in feel with a potent wave of tart raspberry fruits that saturates the palate with savory spice and mineral tones. It leaves a coating of fine tannins and a staining of berry concentration through the finale, tapering off sapid and long, yet perfectly balanced. What a radiant vintage for the Poggio de' Colli, Piaggia's varietal Cabernet Franc. Revisit it in five years to see some real sparks fly. (Drink between 2026-2034)" 97 Eric Guido, Vinous.com

Sassicaia 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Bolgheri Sassicaia, Tuscany

“Here it is: A quintessential Sassicaia that represents the excellence of the vintage and also respects the unique taste profile of this distinguished Tuscan blend of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc. The Tenuta San Guido 2021 Bolgheri Sassicaia offers impeccable balance, excellent freshness and absolutely no signs of over-ripeness. The fruit balance is ideal with a hint of crunch and lasting tension from pulp and skins. The tannins are deftly managed with firm grip and enough velvetiness to add volume and length. There is no greenness on the bouquet that instead offers mulled herbs and spice, with cinnamon and clove, layered delicately between mostly red and some purple berry fruits. Redcurrant, blueberry, sweet pomegranate and Rainier cherry run strong in this vintage. A fragrant hint of heritage rose emerges with time. The oak tones are geared toward gingerbread, hazelnut, cigar, sandalwood and something like a grilled sweet red pepper. To the palate, it offers nice weight with no heavy glycerin, and a rinse of acidity that adds to the wine’s natural energy, brightness and viscosity. That marked freshness opens the wine up to long aging potential, but you still need to give it more time in bottle.” 100, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"This is a beautiful, fresh 2017 Brunello with fine tannins and a medium body of cherry, bark, cedar and pine-needle flavors. It’s long and polished with ultra-fine tannins and fresh acidity. Nicely done for the vintage. Drink or hold." 94 James Suckling

"Tenute Silvio Nardi is an estate worth visiting. It occupies one of the most extreme locations in the appellation, tucked away into the hills north of the town in a wild no-man's-land of its own. Once you get there, there is a cozy, warm feeling, with vineyards carved out of the surrounding Mediterranean shrub oaks and forests. If you taste forest floor, button mushroom and wild flowers in the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino, you could easily imagine this magical place. This is a silky, mid-weight Brunello with a cool-climate character (which is preserved despite the hot vintage). An ample 114,000 bottles are hitting the market now." 93 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Tuscany, Tuscany

."A forceful and profound Guidalberto that tells the story of the 2020 vintage with a very dark profile reminiscent of black cherry, black plums, dark chocolate, burnt sage, and marjoram. Fresher nuances emerge slowly with the passage of minutes in the glass, proceeding to a progressive balsamic character accented with dried white flowers and mandarin juice fused with green tones reminiscent of peppermint. Full bodied, powerful, and layered on the palate, it demonstrates grace and character within a considerably languid disposition. Gorgeous right from the start, but better after 2024." ‚Äč94 Points, Raffaele Vecchione, WinesCritic.com

Tenuta San Guido Le Difese 2022, 0.75L
Sangiovese / Cabernet Sauvignon from Tuscany, Tuscany

“The 2022 Le Difese is plump, juicy and expressive, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, succulent red cherry fruit, mint, spice and blood orange all race across the palate. This exuberant yet mid-weight coastal Tuscan red is a total pleasure bomb. The 2022 is an especially fine edition. It benefits from a warm year - which can be a positive for entry-level wines - earlier bottling and selection. Le Difese is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (both estate and non-estate sites) and Sangiovese, all purchased.” 92, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2024

Terra di Monteverro Toscana Rosso 2018, 0.75L
Red Bordeaux Blend from Tuscany, Tuscany

“A very classical year for Tuscany,' says enologist Matthieu of the 2018 vintage. Val delle Corti Chianti Classico Riserva 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Chianti Classico, Tuscany

“This is an impressive new release from Val delle Corti in Radda in Chianti. With 5,000 bottles released, the 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva shows an immediate level of austerity and complexity that relaxes to display dark fruit, earth, rusty nail and candied orange peel. There is a Pinot-Noiresque quality to this wine that makes it very attractive. I heartily recommend this under-the-radar discovery. Fruit comes from a cool site at 450 meters in elevation with calcareous marl soils with lots of rock. The vines were planted in 1974.” 94 Wine Advocate.
