Henriot Cuvee Hemera Grand Cru 2006, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“The 2006 Henriot “Cuvée Hemera” is a beautifully refined, complex and youthful example of the vintage. The wine is composed from a cépages of fifty percent each chardonnay and pinot noir, sourced from some of the very finest crus in all of Champagne. The pinot noir hails from the Montagne de Reims villages of Verzy, Verzenay and Mailly, while the chardonnay comes from Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte de Blancs. The wine was aged twelve years sur latte and finished with a dosage of five grams per liter. The wine is truly stunning on the nose, wafting from the glass in an elegant blend of apple, pear, a touch of hazelnut, warm bread, a beautiful base of soil and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with a superb core of fruit, bright, zesty acids, precise focus, elegant mousse and a very long, complex finish that beautifully weaves fruit tones with mineral undertow. The 2006 vintage was a hot year and this wine’s steely spine of acidity and impeccable balance are testament to just how great a bottle the Hemera has turned out to be! I cannot wait to taste it in a more classically racy vintage like 2008 or 2012! Great juice. (Drink between 2022-2050).” 95, John Gilman, View From The Cellar, May 2022

“75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay. Golden yellow color with a very “pinot” nose (read cherry). Rich and full in the mouth, with plenty of creaminess. Nice acidity and structure enhanced by the Chardonnay finishes very fresh and long. Wonderful balance with ripe fruit aromatics makes this a very seductive bubbly.” Importer Notes

Bollinger La Grande Annee Brut 2015, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
"Velvety burnished gold in color with near imperceptible fine bubbles, the Grand Année 2015 is a 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay blend of 11 crus, 79% Grands Cru and 21% Premiers Crus, that is 100% barrel fermented, aged 7 years on lees and finished with an 8 grams per liter dosage. It opens toasty and rich with red forest fruit aromas accented by bruised apple, warm spice, Acacia honey, and a refreshing whiff of chalk. Plush and generous, the medium-bodied palate fills out with a seamless depth of orchard fruit concentration lifted by buoyant, finely spun acid energy and a satiny, pinpoint mousse. This 2015 lingers long on the palate and has an attractive kiss of bitterness. Disgorged October 2023." 96+, Sarah Mayo, The Wine Independent, Nov 2024
"This expressive Champagne features a rich, well-spiced range of flavors chiseled by well-honed, integrated acidity, which lends a racy feel to the ripe black cherry and mulberry fruit and notes of salted almond, pink grapefruit granita, crystallized honey and pickled ginger that ride the raw silk–like mousse. Hints of chalk and spring blossoms play on the clean-cut, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged May 2023. Drink now through 2040." 96, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, Sep 2024
"Bollinger's 2015 Brut Grand Année is an intriguing wine in that is clearly reflects the decision to pick on the later side in order to avoid vegetal notes derived from the mismatch of alcoholic and phenolic ripeness. "Balance was hard to achieve in 2015," Chef de Cave Denis Bunner notes. "At 10% in sugar, the fruit was simply not ripe. We had to wait to reach the optimal window of ripeness." Bunner also opted to increase the Chardonnay, so the blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, as opposed to the more typical 70/30 blend, with more Verzenay than Aÿ in the Pinots. Dried citrus peel, sage, menthol, sage, tangerine peel and spice build with some coaxing. Light tropical overtones develop with aeration. There's real density and textural richness here. This will be a fascinating vintage to follow. Stylistically, it is the complete opposite from the much more linear 2014 that precedes it. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: May 2023." 96, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2024

“The NV Extra Brut Grains de Celles (2020) is a blend of half Pinot Noir with a quarter each of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, all picked in Celles-sur-Ource. Wet clay is subtle on the nose. The palate is creamy and has fine, smooth mousse and real brightness on the palate, alongside creaminess and more of that smooth clay and lemon character and a subtle finish. “Airy and cool aromas include those of petrol, quinine, yeast and freshly sliced lemon. The sleek, intense and utterly delicious medium weight flavors are supported by a crisp and relatively fine mousse that makes one salivate on the clean, very dry and moderately austere finale. This could easily be enjoyed now or held for a few years first.” 91, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2022

Krug Grande Cuvee 172eme Edition Brut NV, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“The 172ème édition, based around the 2016 vintage, is a delicate, floral and saline Grande Cuvée at this early stage in its life. The palate it taut, tightly wound, gradually unfurling into toasted fruit bread, rye bread and roasted nuts, wrapped around an intricate and taut lemon core. It's exceptionally long, spicy, rounded and spherical in shape. Notes of sweet unsalted butter round out the finish, which has such length, elegance and balance. 58% of the wine is from the 2016 vintage, which saw a lot of rain in the spring and close to flowering, with 42% from reserve wines. The blend is made up of 146 separately vinified wines from 11 different years, and the oldest wine in the blend is from the 1998 vintage.” 97, Natalie Earl, Decanter, Apr 2024
“Beautiful notes of dried citrus fruit, lemon curd and dried apples with hints of spices, dried flowers and subtle brioche. I like the polished and caressing texture and steady, refreshing acidity. It’s fresh and even austere, with notes of ground spices. So vertical and firm. Structured and long. Drink or hold.” 97, James Suckling, Aug 2024
“The NV Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition is a gracious, sublime Champagne. Light citrus notes, white flowers, spice, marzipan and chamomile inflections all run through this delicate, nuanced Grande Cuvée. The 172eme is a Champagne of understatement and class that is very much a reflection of the base year. Brisk acids pull it all together. The Grande Cuvée is often quite accessible on release, but this is an Edition I would cellar for at least another year or two. It’s a fine effort from Krug. The 172ème Édition is a blend of 44% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier based on 2016 with reserve wines back to 1998. Disgorged: Winter 2022-2023.” 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2024

Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee NV, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for you. Bollinger Champagne has made a number of cameos in James Bond films over the year. This non-vintage Special Cuvée is an example of a classic Champagne done well. Notes of marzipan on the nose and the palate give toastiness and leesy notes, specifically sourdough. It’s classic for a reason and would only elevate any table it finds itself on. (Drink between 2022-2032).” 95, Brianne Cohen, Decanter, Dec 2023

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut NV, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
". . . the latest rendition of Delamotte's NV Blanc de Blancs is showing just as well as its immediate predecessor, offering up a classy bouquet of crisp green apple, citrus oil, brioche, toasted nuts and dried white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fine-boned and elegant, with a crisp but charming core of fruit, lively acids and a precise, saline finish. Since its acquisition in 1988 by Laurent-Perrier, Delamotte has been twinned with Salon, one of Champagne's most prestigious small houses. Delamotte has both gained and lost by the association: gained, in that some of Salon's reputation has tended to rub off on Delamotte, and lost, because Delamotte is frequently portrayed—though not by the house's team, of course—as something of a "second wine" to Salon. Though both are Chardonnay specialists emphasizing their home village Mesnil-sur-Oger, in reality, the styles are quite distinct. Delamotte's wines undergo malolactic fermentation and, in profile, are creamier, more textural and giving, displaying an elegantly autolytic character while eschewing any extremes of Maillard-derived toastiness. Average production amounts to some 750,000 bottles per year, and the estate's emblematic cuvées are its non-vintage and vintage Blanc de Blancs; the latter especially is a very serious wine, and recent renditions are especially good. In fact, the 2008 may be one of the more underrated wines from this superb vintage on the market, and it's arguably this cuvée that suffers the most by Delamotte's position in Salon's shadow. These wines age well, and old non-vintage Delamotte can be a great bargain in the auction or brokerage market. I'm currently finishing up a case from the early 1980s from my cellar in Burgundy, and every bottle has been terrific." 93, Wine Advocate Interim, Aug 2019
