91 VM. "A faint resinous wood overlay (reflecting the 25 percent of this blend that was in 500-liter barrels) does not obscure classic Pinot Blanc notes of corn shoot with fresh apple and lime. A cooling, soothing, subtly creamy palate is tinged with mint, but the piquancy and sizzle of corn shoot supply stimulating counterpoint en route to a succulently sustained finish. A pleasing undertone of chalk – evoking the Deidesheim vineyards in which this grew – helps set off the fruity and herbal elements. I don’t yet have experience with older Von Winning Pinot Blancs, so I’m being conservative in my quantified prognostication." Vinous, Aug 2017 |
