94 AG. "Bright red berries, raspberry jam, spices and new leather jump from the glass in the 2011 Guado de' Gemoli. Chiappini's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend. Mocha, espresso, savory herbs and leather develop in the glass, adding further layers of nuance and complexity over time. Over the last few years consulting oenologist Emiliano Falsini has moved towards a gentler approach in the cellar, which includes, among other things, lowering temperatures during fermentation. The 2011 is easily one of the best versions of Guado de' Gemoli I can remember tasting. The 2011 is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, with a dollop of Cabernet Franc.
