Arietta Merlot Hudson Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Merlot from Carneros, California

"Always a standout from this winning combination of site and producer, this is a 100% varietal vineyard-designate, from the cool landscape of Carneros. Rainier cherry, cassis and a dusting of baking spice highlight a seamless body of integrated tannin and oak, the wine offering power but also enduring elegance. While enjoyable now, it will benefit from further aging; enjoy best 2029–2039" 97, Wine Enthusiast

The 2019 Merlot Hudson Vineyards is packed with dark plum fruit, chocolate and a whole range of cool-climate savory notes that add complexity as well as nuance. The Hudson Merlot is one of the most distinctive wines in Napa Valley, but it needs cellaring to be at its best. These are the oldest vines on Lee Hudson's property. Cobb Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2019 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard was made with 50% whole clusters and matured for 22 months in 40% new French oak. It is delicate and broody on the nose at this stage, with a core of raspberry fruit and accents of saline, seaweed, cracked pepper and violet. The light-bodied palate is delicate, grainy and fresh, with layer after layer of detailed fruits and a latent finish that hints at more to come as this matures in bottle." 93, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Cobb Riesling Vonarburg Vineyard 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Anderson Valley, California

"The 2020 Riesling Vonaburg Vineyard comes from terraced vines planted in the mid-2000s in Anderson Valley. It offers bright, pure aromas of kiwi, white peach and lime, with wafts of petrol and wet stone. The palate is medium-bodied, dry and powerful, with intense citrus fruits supported by tangy acidity and pleasant phenolic grip that drives the long finish." 93, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Gemstone Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Selection 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Selection, from the back part of the property, is plump, juicy and full of character. Inky dark fruit, mocha, floral notes and spice . All the elements come together so nicely. Picking a bit earlier than in the past helps preserve freshness as well as energy. Time in the glass brings out the wine's volume and resonance. The juicy, creamy style works well here. Inky dark red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal and new leather build into the resonant finish. I find a bit better balance here than in the Alluvial Selection. (Drink between 2022-2038)" 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Hendry 'Hendry Vineyard' Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Opaque, deep ruby color. Initial aromas of deep, dark berry and soft, subtly spicy oak. Fullbodied, balanced and readily drinkable, with moderate acids and substantial but easily-tamed
tannins. Very approachable upon release. Pair with crisped parmesan, or other intensely flavored, cheesy items, rib-eyes, a deluxe cheeseburger, rack of lamb, or a savory, ribsticking, polenta and short ribs." Winery Notes

Sean Thackrey Proprietary Red Orion Rossi Vineyard 2016, 0.75L
from St. Helena, California

"Lastly, the 2016 Orion comes from a single vineyard and is a field blend (the blend isn't specified) from vines planted in 1905. It's a gorgeous effort with a semi-opaque ruby/purple color as well as a smorgasbord-like array of red, blue, and black fruits, toasted spices, candied orange, herbes de Provence, and tobacco. Deep, layered, and full-bodied on the palate, it has remarkable purity of fruit, velvety tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish." 96, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Andrew Will Proprietary Red Champoux Vineyard Sorella 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington

"A resounding success, the deep ruby-colored 2017 Sorella displays beautiful purple highlights and explodes from the glass with aromas of blackberry, cigar box and dried tobacco with hints of graphite and dusty purple flowers. Full-bodied, the wine is ripe and round, with an immaculate mouthfeel, showing an impressive depth of flavor. With succulent red and black fruit expressions and soft cinnamon spice tones from oak, the wine is a whirlwind of complexity across the mid-palate. Emerging with a balanced structure and lifted tannic backbone, the wine lingers with persistence and intention, as flavors of dusty bitter dark chocolate, black plum and spiced dark cherries flutter across the finish. Bravo, this is absolutely stunning and will drink amazingly for the next two decades to come." 97, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate

Case Paolin Pietra Fine Asolo Superiore Extra Brut NV NV, 0.75L
Glera from Asolo Prosecco, Veneto

"Smoky yet sweet on the nose, the NV Extra Brut Prosecco Superiore Pietra Fine keeps me coming back with a bouquet of dusty dried flowers, cinnamon spice and baked apples. This takes a turn toward the savory and mineral spectrum on the palate. Brilliant acidity adds tremendous energy throughout. The Pietra Fine finishes long with potent citrus and inner florals while leaving the mouth watering for more. Consider me a fan. (Lot# 4721) (Drink between 2022-2026)" 91, Eric Guido, Vinous.com

Samion 2019, 0.75L
Merlot from Lalande de Pomerol, Bordeaux

Château Samion is the family domaine of Jean‐Claude Berrouet, the man who oversaw more than 40 vintages at the famed Château Petrus in Pomerol from 1964until his retirement in 2007. Together with his son Jean‐Françis, they produce a small amount of wine from their holdings in Lalande‐de‐Pomerol which total a scant1.2 hectares. The first vintage for Château Samion was in 1979 when they rented the vineyards, but since 1985 they have been owned by the Berrouet family and the vines are now an average of 45 years in age. There is but one wine made at Château Samion. The wine is made from 100% Merlot, and one will find it is made in the same manner and with the same exacting care as Château Petrus. The grapes are harvested by hand, and then vinified in concrete vats. Following the vinification, the wine is racked and aged for 20 months in 15% new French oak casks (225 liters). Importer Notes

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Reserva 2014, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The 2014 Rioja “Reserva” from Señorío de P. Peciña is another beautiful current release from this great bodegas. The wine is showing far more secondary complexity on the nose than the lovely 2015 Crianza bottling, wafting from the glass in an utterly refined blend of cherries, raspberries, cigar smoke, salty soil tones, cloves, allspice, incipient nutskin and a lovely foundation of coconutty American oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already nicely velvety, with a sappy core of fruit, lovely mineral undertow, suave, mellowing tannins and a long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. Great juice. (Drink between 2022-2065)" 93+, John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Domaine Cheveau Mâcon-Fuissé Les Grandes Bruyères 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Mâcon-Fuissé, Burgundy

"Approximately 6000 bottles are produced annually from 40 year-old vines in the village of Fuissé. Planted to limestone-clay soils, these vineyards produce a typically generous, rich wine from this village famed for its ideal setting that yields some of the finest wines of the Maconnais. In this instance, after fermentation, the wine is raised in stainless steel but left in contact with the fine lees for one year. Virtually the entire production of this wine is dedicated to the US market." Importer Notes

Domaine Lionnet Cornas Terre Brûlée 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Cornas, Rhône

"Opaque violet color. Precise, mineral-accented scents of blackberry, cassis and exotic spices are accompanied by a slowly emerging floral nuance. Sappy and energetic on the palate, displaying sharp delineation to its concentrated black/blue fruit, floral pastille, olive and allspice flavors. Finishes extremely long and spicy, with intense mineral thrust, a hint of candied violet and subtly chewy, harmonious tannins that make a late appearance. Domaine Huet Vouvray Petillant Brut 2017, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Loire

"The 2017 Vouvray Pétillant Brut from Domaine Huët is a lovely bottle. The bouquet is bright and focused, wafting from the glass in a mix of quince, dried flowers, chalky soil tones, a hint of menthol and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, young and racy, with a fine core, good soil signature, a lovely spine of acidity and a long, well-balanced, complex and quite dry finish. This wine always ages brilliantly and the 2017 will be another long-distance runner, but it is certainly already quite tasty out of the blocks." 92 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sonoma Valley, California

"The dry-farmed vines at Kistler Vineyard, about 40 years old now, produced a wine with loads of personality. The 2020 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard unfolds its aromatic layers slowly, blossoming from flint to white peaches and lime peel, plus touches of dried sage, beeswax, almonds and pie crust. The palate is surprisingly powerful and concentrated, with hedonistic layers of stone fruit and candied citrus. All that fruit density is supported by a silky texture and seamless acidity, and a touch of phenolic texture drives its tremendously long finish." 97, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

"Coche-Dury fans will love this 2020 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard, which turns up the volume and expression of the characteristically tensile, flinty Chardonnay from Hyde Vineyard. Opening with tones of struck match, it takes plenty of time in the glass to unfurl its concentrated white peach, apricot, lime peel, baking spice and pie crust aromas. Donnachadh Family Vineyards Chardonnay Sta Rita Hills 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Santa Rita Hills, California

"The 2021 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills is the first vintage of Chardonnay from Donnachadh. It was barrel fermented and matured for around 10 months. Its aromas combine bright herbal, green apple and pear tones with underlying savory hints. The light-bodied palate is bright and fresh, yet offers a touch of anchoring creaminess that draws out the finish. Proprietor Drew Duncan says that for this vintage, fruit came from the Donnachadh estate, although that may not be the case in the future as this new project really gets up and running." 94 Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

Jaimee Motley Wines Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Cruz Mountains 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

"Jaimee Motley's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Peter Martin Ray is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. Rich and layered in the glass, the 2018 has that extra kick of mid-palate density and volume that the 2017 doesn't, the result of a far more even and favorable growing season. Dark plum, mint, lavender, spice and dried herbs all develop with a bit of air, but it is the wine's balance that is most compelling. The 50% whole clusters are barely perceptible. Nervi-Conterno Gattinara Vigna Molsino 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Gattinara, Piedmont

"The 2018 Gattinara Molsino emerges from a relatively warm, sunny spot on the estate at 400 meters in elevation. It presents myriad shades of dark cherry/plum fruit, sage, menthol, new leather and dark spices. Potent and virile in the glass, the Molsino possesses tremendous drive as it builds into a deep, beautifully resonant finish that is utterly captivating. It's a remarkable effort for the first year in which Roberto Conterno and his team were in charge. The ambition is pretty clear. Leoville Las Cases 2018, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"Pure magic and one of the finest expressions of this estate I could imagine, as well as a perfect wine, the 2018 Château Léoville Las Cases comes from a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc that spent 19 months in (I believe) all new French oak. Its dense purple color is followed by a profound wine loaded with notions of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, melon, crushed stone, tobacco, and violets. Full-bodied, concentrated, and massive on the palate, yet also incredibly well delineated and precise, it has a wonderful mix of seemingly ripe, sunny fruit from a warm year yet the minerality, purity, and precision of a cooler year. This wine is going to be just about immortal; however, do your best to hide bottles for a solid 10-15 years. Drink: 2031-2081." 100 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, Mar 2021

Denis Bachelet Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Bourgogne, Burgundy

"The ripe and fresh nose is comprised by notes of dark berry coulis, earth and a whiff of oak. There is excellent density and energy to the mouth coating, delicious and sappy middle weight flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence for its level. In short, this is a potentially outstanding Bourgogne and absolutely one to consider plus it should be fully capable of rewarding several years of development." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Domaine Ponsot Chapelle Chambertin 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Cote de Nuits, Burgundy

"The Chapelle-Chambertin is permitted a slightly longer vinification at slightly lower temperatures than the other re wines. It is the first to eb picked and the last to be decanted out of the fermentation vats. It has paid dividends this year. The colour offers a wealth of exuberant deep purple. The nose too is joyous, making an immediate statement of ripe but delightful deep raspberry and succulent strawberry fruit. There is a wealth of fruit right across the palate then this same strong mineral acidity to finish. The fruit seems to darken (in a good way) in the glass. This is going to be pretty special." 94-97 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, Oct 2020

Opening in the glass with aromas of cherries, strawberries and raspberries mingled with peonies and licorice, Ponsot's 2019 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a broad attack that segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate framed by ripe tannins and lively acids. This has turned out very well indeed. 95 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Laurent Ponsot Charmes-Chambertin Cuvee du Cypres 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Cote de Nuits, Burgundy

"From a parcel located in Charmes, down-slope from Chambertin, this is slightly backwards at present, with a bit of reduction, but behind these aromas there is plenty of sumptuous, bright red berry fruit. The texture is firm and fresh, with the grip and intensity to age well. Although it does not have the intensity or persistence of the Chambertin, it resembles it in its vibrant elegance and balance." 94 points, Decanter Magazine, Oct 2020

"Here the ripe and fresh nose derives more from the red side of the fruit spectrum while adding nuances of cherry liqueur, warm earth and underbrush. There is very good detail and subtle minerality to the dense and relatively muscular big-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. This very firm effort will need to add depth over time to achieve the upper end of my projected range." 91-93 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021

Laurent Ponsot Clos de Vougeot Cuvée du Cèdre 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Clos de Vougeot, Burgundy

"Six suppliers. Powerful mid purple colour. The bouquet is reserved, however. There is a fine wealth of fruit though on the palate, with some mineral tension to finish, very youthful. A medium bodied but very promising Clos Vougeot." 93-96 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, Oct 2020

"A very ripe yet still agreeably fresh nose combines notes of black cherry, cassis and plum liqueur with those of warm earth and discreet anise nuances. The delicious and relatively refined larger-scaled flavors possess a caressing mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the muscular, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This is quite firm and is going to required extended patience. 94 points, Allan Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021.

Domaine Ponsot Corton Charlemagne 2019, 0.75L

"The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is broad and textural, offering up aromas of honeyed orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, buttery pastry and white flowers, followed by a full-bodied, layered and enveloping palate that's lively and penetrating, concluding with a saline finish." 93 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

"A cool, pure and highly complex nose combines aromas of essence of plum liqueur, black cherry, violet, earth and plenty of spice components. The sense of refinement continues on the sleek, succulent and almost lacy mineral-driven and wonderfully textured medium weight flavors that deliver superb persistence on the exceptionally firm, beautifully balanced and youthfully austere finale. It's not all the time that Clos de la Roche is described as a wine of class but in 2019, this wine has that highly desirable attribute. *Don't Miss!*" 96 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021

"Ponsot's 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes was picked in multiple passages, beginning with earlier-ripening massale selections on September 17, followed by the rest of the domaine's holdings on September 22–23. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries and plums mingled with licorice, peony and cinnamon, it's full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a rich core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. This is aging gracefully and underlines the additional precision Alex Abel has brought to Ponsot's winemaking in recent years." 96 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

Recaredo Turo d'En Mota de Recaredo Brut Nature 2008, 0.75L
Xarel·lo / Macabeo from Alt Penedès, Catalunya

"Their top wine is the single-vineyard Xarel·lo 2008 Turó d'en Mota, named after the origin of the grapes. 2008 was an exceptional year in the zone, and the wine fermented in 300-liter oak barrels and then was put to referment in bottle, where it spent no less than 155 months (12 years and 11 months!) with the lees. 2008 produced healthy clusters of extraordinary acidity, ideal for the long aging, and it has only 11% alcohol, an incredible pH of 3.02 and six grams of tartaric acid. Maybe I'm influenced but the nose, but the aromatic palette from this wine is completely different from the rest of the portfolio, with green olives, curry, spices, toast and smoke and wet chalk, all in a very subtle way. This has density, fine tannins and citrus freshness that makes you salivate. This is a superb white wine that happens to have bubbles... A completely different wine, full of personality and character. This feels very young and undeveloped, as it's aging at a glacial pace. Winemaker Ton Mata told me other 2008s have evolved in a very positive way. The wine has been certified organic and biodynamic since the 2010 vintage. 4,317 numbered bottles produced." 97 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Georges Lignier Clos de la Roche 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

"The estate owns five plots on a range of different soil, with the vines averaging about 60 years of age: Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry accented by brown spices; the nose suggests a bigger wine than the Clos Saint-Denis. The large-scaled and deeper in the mouth but tightly wound, with its red fruit flavors complicated by soil-driven notes of menthol, stone, dried flowers, spices and underbrush. A bit more powerful and tannic than the Clos Saint-Denis, this wine will also require a minimum of five or six years of aging upon release .... Benoît Stehly told me he 'loves' the style of 2016, and he prefers his ‘16s to his ‘15s for their balance and elegance. 'It’s unusual to have very fruity and very fresh wines at the same time,' he went on, 'and the tannins are wonderfully ripe.'" 91-94 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with powdery tannins and a long, floral finish. It was vinified without any destemming. As I wrote of its 2018 counterpart, this is a serious, inherently structured wine, so readers shouldn't be misled by the modest appellation into drinking it too soon: four or five years' bottle age will be richly rewarded." 92+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Domaine Garnier Chablis Vaudesir 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2019 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a very pretty bouquet of yellow flowers, honeysuckle and light white truffle scents, plus a touch of flint in the background. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is certainly one of the more elegant Grand Crus in 2019, displaying admirable poise and a touch of spice toward the lingering finish. Outward Wines Santa Ynez Valley Syrah 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Ynez Valley, California

"Co-fermented with 5% Viognier and vinified entirely with whole clusters, the 2021 Syrah is fresh and crunchy without losing its complexity. Medium ruby-purple in the glass, it opens slowly from touches of tar and tobacco to wafts of blueberries, blackcurrants, pipe tobacco and potpourri on the nose. Medium-bodied and bursting with layers of concentrated, crunchy fruit, it has alluring spicy accents as it traverses the palate. It offers a fine, chalky frame, tremendous, energetic acidity and a very long, perfumed finish. This elegant expression that nods to the Côte-Rôtie style is a pleasure to drink! Knebel Winninger Uhlen Riesling Grosses Gewachs 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Winningen, Mosel

"AP: 13 21. The 2020er Riesling Uhlen GG, as it is referred on the main part of the label, is a legally dry wine which comes from old vines in the grey-slated Laubach part of the vineyard and which was fermented and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel (75%) and used small oak barrel (25%) for 9 months. It offers a beautiful and subtle ripe nose made of grapefruit zest, minerals, melon, pear puree, earthy spices, and fresh minty elements. The wine proves beautifully pure and smoothly dry (rather than bone-dry) on the palate and leaves a great complex feel of fruits, herbs, and fine spices in the long finish. This great dry wine combines depth and presence with elegance and finesse. What a great success! We would not be surprised if it eventually turns out to be a classic, especially as the wine reveals its depth." 94+ Jean Fisch & David Rayer, MoselFineWines.com

"The fine, peachy nose leads you into this massively structured and really concentrated Mosel GG, which is very mineral, with austere elegance at the very long finish. Drink or hold." 94 James Suckling

"Precise and elegant on the nose, the 2020 Uhlen GG reveals a still phenolic structure and a still drying finish but with good fruit intensity and salinity. Promising." 92+ Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

“From a 50/50 blend of Les Millandes and La Riotte. Jean-Paul et Benoit Droin Chablis Valmur 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"From recently replanted vines totaling 1.04 ha; aged in 50% wood but only a small percentage is new. Once again moderate wood is present on the spicy aromas of green fruit and oyster shell-inflected nose. The rich, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors possess a borderline creamy mid-palate texture while exhibiting outstanding length on the sappy and saline finish. Very promising." 92-94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

"The 2021 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru offers more intensity and precision than the Vaudésir, the wood giving weight but beautifully assimilated, shucked oyster shells emerging. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening, notes of lemon curd and orange pith, building nicely in the mouth towards a suave and lightly spiced finish. Superb." 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous

"From a site of just over 1ha, Valmur is a colder site giving, as Droin says, a more masculine. Cool, closed on the nose, this will need a lot of time to open up. Oak is a little more apparent here, with very precise acidity. Very linear at the minute, a grand cru with a nose of white flowers, and a palate of great purity. This will need three to four years to open and will be hitting its stride in seven to eight." 93 Andy Howard MW, Decanter Magazine

"Pale lemon colour. An excellent bouquet, though as usual it is hard to know exactly where to place Valmur, some ripe apples, pears and the start of plums, rich and dense, with some marine notes at the back reminding us it is Chablis." 91-94 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

"The 2018 I Sodi di San Niccolò is the most elegant Sodi I have ever tasted, and I have tasted them all. Sodi can be quite the bruiser in its youth, as the tannins are often imposing, but the 2018 is impressive because there is more than enough fruit to balance things out. Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Alessandro Mori's Il Marroneto 2017 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a very distinguished and unique character that makes this wine easy to recognize in a lineup of Brunello. This hot and dry growing season made for more powerful aromas and sometimes riper flavors in the appellation, generally speaking. But this magically lean-bodied wine follows its own path, and the warmth of the summer seems to have cemented almost exotic aromas of bay leaf, crushed flower, campfire ash and iron ore. The wine is exceedingly silky and elegant, but instead of opulence, you get streamlined tension accompanied by lifted, immediate aromas of fruit, flowers and light spice." 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Realm Cellars Proprietary Red The Tempest 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Napa Valley, California

"The 2019 The Tempest, Realm's Merlot based red, is not surprisingly, quite accessible. Super-ripe blackberry, cherry jam, sweet spice, licorice and new oak all flesh out as this succulent, hugely inviting wine shows off its considerable charm. The 2019 is a looker, that's for sure. The blend is Merlot from Realm Estate, Farella and Orchard, with Cabernet Sauvignon from Houyi." 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2019 The Tempest is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, mainly coming from cooler sights this year, including Farella vineyard in Coombsville, Oakville, Stag’s Leap Estate and Oak Knoll, with the portion of Cabernet Sauvignon all coming from Houyi vineyard on Pritchard Hill.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose offers gorgeous notes of baked blueberries, black cherries and mulberries with hints of menthol, dark chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, the mouth is packed with loads of spicy layers, while bright sparks of red fruit offer compelling energy, culminating with a long, perfumed finish. This is a wonderfully poised, polished Merlot." 95+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

Giacomo Conterno Barolo Francia 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"Of the three Barolo samples I tasted from barrel (including Arione and Cerretta, which are also from Serralunga d'Alba), the Giacomo Conterno 2018 Barolo Francia was the furthest behind and the hardest to pin down at this stage in its infancy. I have opened my range of scores accordingly to compensate for the magical unknowns that are likely to occur as the wine moves toward greater harmony and integration before its commercial release. The wine is linear and pointedly focused, lacking the width and volume it will gain when given more time to flesh out and relax. The aromas are also quite primary and simple at this point, with dark cherry and even a hint of ripe strawberry ceding gradually to grilled herb, blue flower and baked brick. This vintage of Barolo Francia will require patience." 94-97 Monica Larner, Wineadvocate.com, Nov 2021

Donnhoff Pinot Brut 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nahe, Nahe

"Famous, steeply sloping vineyard in a small side valley of the middle section of the Nahe River. The “Höllenpfad” (“Path to Hell”) name is an old one, likely referencing both the vineyard‘s steep slope as well as the unique color of the red sandstone. The surrounding landscape is bathed daily in the rich, warm light of the evening sun as it reflects off the hillside‘s distinctive red soil. It‘s also not hard to imagine that the word „Hell“ might have been uttered by many a winegrower after a particularly laborious day on these steep slopes. The weathered warm sandstone of the Rotliegend strata lends the wines their inimitable character. Grapes grown here tend to be very small with intense, nuanced aromas; the resulting wines are elegant with a spicy mineral fruit and excellent aging potential." Importer Notes

Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Primarily from the Hardester Ranch in Pope Valley, with other major contributions from St. Helena, Soda Canyon and Glass Mountain, it's a medium to full-bodied effort, with bold flavors of cherries, cassis and cedar. It's easy, but not soft, nicely firm, with a long, silky-textured finish. Craig and Kathryn Hall Sacrashe-d onto the Napa Valley wine scene with the 1994 purchase of the Sacrashe property, at the eastern edge of the Rutherford AVA. Craig was a successful businessman; Kathryn's family had owned a vineyard in Mendocino when she was growing up. From 1997–2001, Kathryn served as U.S. ambassador to Austria, which put a brief hold on the couple's plans to expand their wine business, but in 2001, they purchased the property on Highway 29 that has become their signature attraction. Mike Reynolds came on board in 2002 as winemaker and has since been promoted to president; my extensive tasting visit was conducted with the winery's current vice president of winemaking, Megan Gunderson, who joined Hall in 2005 as an enologist." 90 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Gualtallary 2019, 0.75L
Malbec from Gualtallary, Mendoza

"The 2019 Malbec Appellation Gualtallary comes from specific soils, two small three-hectare plots in the Cerros del Jaboncillo, where they find more caliche and limestone in Tupungato Winelands. They believe this place transmits the maximum expression of limestone to Malbec, giving a structured wine with fine-grained tannins with the wilderness from Gualtallary. It fermented in small concrete vats with indigenous yeasts at some 26 degrees Celsius for 20 days. Eighty-five percent of the volume matured in untoasted 3,500-liter French oak foudres for 20 months while the rest was kept in concrete. They sell it a little later than the Altamira because they feel Gualtallary needs a little more time in bottle; therefore, they are now offering the 2019 vintage, a very balanced wine that talks about the place where it was born. This is vibrant and expressive, with a complex nose and especially a lively palate with effervescent acidity and very fine-boned with elegant but firm tannins (they say "Serralunga-like" tannins). I find the recurring iron-like note of blood and fresh meat here too, intermixed with the wild flowers, herbs and spices. This has depth and complexity, and if Altamira is Barbaresco, Gualtallary is Barolo... 10,000 bottles were filled in January 2022." 97 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Schloss Gobelsburg Tradition Heritage Cuvee 50 Years NV, .750L
Gruner Veltliner / Riesling / Grüner Sylvaner / Muskat Sylvaner / Riesling Sylvaner / Welschriesling / Muskat Ottonen / Trainer / Muskateller from Kamptal, Kamptal

"Intensely golden-yellow in color, the NV Tradition Heritage Cuvée 50 Years Edition 850 blends several grape varieties and a wide range of vintages from the last 50 years, starting with the 1970 vintage. The nose opens precise, lean and fresh, with bright and spicy fruit and flinty notes. On the palate, this treasure is crystalline, tight, reductive and very elegant, with a long and tensioned finish. This Jubilee edition reveals remarkable finesse and grip and represents the historical spirit and substance of the castle. Due to the matured wines from the 1970s and 1980s, this is a leaner, more filigreed style than the newer assemblages that contain only barrel-stored reserve wines from the Michael Moosbrugger era. The wine is doubtlessly very impressive. To create the blend, many bottles of the wine library were opened, tasted and decanted into small vessels that were then, little by little, blended into a cuvée. "It demands a clarity of vision and long years of experience with the wines of the Danube River region to compose a cuvée of this style," says Moosbrugger. "The different soils and the various grape varieties demand an understanding of their nature and their functionality in a blend, in order to create a wine like this."
Thirty-three percent of the cuvée is from vintages of the most recent decade (2011, 2013, 2014 and 2017), 37% from 2000, 2002-2005, 2007 and 2009), 7% from the 1990s (1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999), 12% from the 1980s (1980, 1981-1984, 1986, 1987, 1989) and 11% from the 1970s (1970, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1977 und 1979). As Michael Mooesbrugger says, "The Jubilee cuvée combines 25 years of monastic culture with 25 years of modern wine culture." (Moosbrugger started at Schloss Gobelsburg in 1996, so exactly 25 years ago.)..." 98 Points, Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Francine et Oliver Savary Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The Savarys have finally earned the recognition for their hard work, and are highly regarded in the appellation. The clay-limestone hillsides of the Kimmeridgian chain are excellent for growing dazzling, complex Chardonnay, also known here as “Beaunois.” However ideal the soil, Olivier brings his own brilliance to the table. The grapes from his vineyards throughout the Chablis appellation are blended into one fabulously complex village wine cuvée.  He also bottles an extraordinary premier cru from Fourchaume, as well as a separate cuvée of old-vine fruit in heavy, wax-sealed bottles after élévage in demi-muids.  These exquisite wines are quintessential Chablis, with unmistakable aromas of ancient crushed shells and a pronounced, racy mineral structure." Importer Notes

Niepoort Bairrada Branco Vinhas Velhas 2017, 0.75L
Bical / Maria Gomes from Cantanhede, Bairrada

"Light lemon in colour, with its usual vibrant, expressive but austere character, this wine really emphasises its mineral notes from the calcareous soils, harmonising with aromas of fresh herbs, limes and white blossoms. The austere and mineral-driven character of the Bical grape variety is complemented by the expressivity of the Maria Gomes grapes. On the palate, an impressive lightness offers, nevertheless, good body and plenty of grip. Its acidity and saline notes lift this wine, lending it a unique character full of freshness and elegance. Niepoort Quinta de Baixo Poeirinho 2016, 0.75L
Baga from Cantanhede, Bairrada

"The 2016 Poeirinho is a Baga aged for 20 months in old 2,000-liter fuders. It comes in at 12% alcohol. This seems better balanced and more refined than the 2015—but perhaps not as energetic. For the moment, I prefer the 2015, granting that they are not side by side. Lighter styled, crisp and transparent, this is a wine that is all about Baga characteristics. It adds that silky texture, refinement, acidity and tannins. It took a while for the pure power to come out, but there is plenty. The tannins are harder than you think at first—although not impossibly astringent. This is certainly beautiful, but it needs some time to evolve and develop, even if you can approach it fairly young. Let's be a little conservative and start here. This will have a long life ahead and plenty of time to evolve." 94 Points, Mark Squires, Wine Advocate

Pascal Doquet's organic Champagnes are of great precision and among the very best that the Côte des Blancs has to offer. Highly recommended." 93 Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

"The NV Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Arpège is a gorgeous, sculpted Champagne built on precision. Crushed rocks, slate, green pears and citrus jump from the glass as this vibrant Champagne shows off its tense, pulsating personality. This is a gorgeous Champagne from Pascal Doquet." 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Outward Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Massa Vineyard 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Carmel Valley, California

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Massa Vineyard comes from old vines planted in 1968 in the Carmel Valley near the coast. "For us, the best expressions are varietally distinct, and we wanted to pay homage to that older style in California," say Natalie Siddique and Ryan Pace, the newly married couple behind Outward, founded in 2016. Grapes were destemmed and spent 30 days on skins with delicate pour-overs done "by hand with a pitcher," they quip—their production is still tiny, with about 1,100 cases made in 2021. The Massa Cabernet has a medium ruby-purple color and bright aromas of red and black currants, blueberries, sage, aniseed and tobacco leaves. The medium-bodied palate is delicately intense with perfumed fruit and savory accents. It has an approachable, lightly chalky frame, energetic acidity calling you in for another sip and a long, floral finish. It's an elegant, easy-to-drink style to enjoy over the next 3-5 years. Only 144 cases were made. 93 Points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Stagard Kremstal Riesling Steiner Braunsdorfer 2017, 0.75L
Riesling from Niederösterreich, Kremstal

The 2017 Ried Braunsdorfer is clear, pure, deep and stony on the nose, with perfectly ripe fruit with notes of stone fruits. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense, round, complex and enormously salty but also tender Riesling with great power, tension and vital length. This is an enormously expressive but fine and crunchy Riesling with great finesse and delicate tension. A great but delicate wine. 96 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Niepoort Batuta Tinto 2015, 0.75L
Touriga Franca / Tinta Roriz / Rufete from Douro, Douro

"The 2015 Batuta is a field blend from old vines, with lots of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Rufete and others, aged in 20% new French barriques for 20 months. It comes in at just 12.5% alcohol. This may be my favorite Batuta in a long time. Now, this is always an elegantly crafted wine, always understated (often, to a fault). This year, though, it has a particularly nice combination of freshness, grip and ripe tannins that make it very appealing. Then, it adds that gorgeous intensity of fruit flavor that this vintage produced, perfectly supported and defined by the acidity that slams the fruit into the palate. There is also very respectable weight (relative to this usually understated bottling and the elegant vintage). It then finishes tight and grabs the palate. Overall, this deserves some props and plenty of them. It should age beautifully. It is also a vintage that is approachable young, but it will certainly be better in 2020 or so, assuming you can keep your hands off of it. It is very tasty now, if a bit tight. We'll see what the future brings, but I have to lean up on this beauty right now. This was not bottled when seen, but it was a tank sample, out of barrel and the final blend."  94-96 Mark Squires, Wine Advocate, Aug 2017

Château de Fosse-Sèche Saumur Réserve du Pigeonnier 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Saumur, Loire

From 60+-year-old vines yielding no more than 11 hectoliters per hectare, macerated for 20 days and aged in concrete eggs for 14 months, the 2019 Réserve du Pigeonnier offers a spectacular deep, ripe and intense, slightly toasty yet still pure, refined and floral-scented bouquet of raw meat, black berries, cherries, crushed stones, ivy and licorice intertwined with this unique elegant, iron-scented Fosse-Sèche note. Medium to full-bodied yet concentrated, round, intense and firm on the palate, this is a fresh, refined and elegant Cab Franc that is based on perfectly ripe and concentrated dark fruits and this nervy silex acidity of Fosse-Sèche. The finish is powerful yet always pure, mineral and refreshing. This is a noble red from Saumur, unfortunately declassified as Vin de France. 12% alcohol. 94 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Château de Fosse-Sèche Laurasie Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saumur, Loire

"Darker in its ruby color, the 2019 Laurasie is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon from almost 20-year-old vines on the stony Jurassic plateau of Fosse-Sèche, where yields are not bigger than 20 hectoliters per hectare. This is fleshy and concentrated yet pure, fresh and elegant on the deep, terroir-driven and beautifully floral (violets) as well as graphitic nose that is absolutely distinctive in its delicate, pure and balanced style. Black and blue berries, dark cherries, green paprika, pencil lead and herbal, wet gravelly notes lead to a medium to full-bodied, highly elegant, refined and perfectly balanced palate that exhibits perfectly ripe, round and juicy fruit with a firm but ripe, very fine and elegant tannin/acidity complex. The finish of this concentrated red is tight, intense and spicy, showing black berry and chocolate as well as graphite and coal with dark cherry notes. Irresistible and, in 2019, possibly the finest wine from Fosse-Sèche. The wine was aged for 12 months in concrete eggs. Tasted in January 2021." 94 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Bernard Burgaud Cote-Rotie 2019, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte Rôtie, Rhône

"Saturated magenta. Powerful, mineral-driven red and blue fruit, candied violet, olive and exotic spice scents show fine definition and lift. Densely packed and energetic on the palate, offering intense, spice-accented bitter cherry, Chambord and blueberry flavors that open up with air. The blue fruit and floral notes drive an impressively long, finely detailed finish that's given grip by polished, steadily building tannins. 20% new oak." 94 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2022

"Closer in style to the 2018 than the 2017, the 2019 Cote Rotie is a big, rich, powerful Côte Rôtie that has loads of meaty, gamey black fruits, smoked herb, pepper, and chocolate-like aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a round, layered texture, terrific tannins, and a great finish, it's a powerhouse yet traditional Côte Rôtie that will need 4-5 years to shed its baby fat yet evolve for 20+ years." 93-95 Jeb Dunnuck

The bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of black cherries, cigar wrapper, Rioja spice tones, a nice touch of soil and just a whisper of American oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and generous at the core, with good mineral drive and grip, moderate tannins and a long, juicy and very well-balanced finish. Alegre Valgañón Rioja Blanco 2020, 0.75L
Viura / Grenache Blanc from Rioja, La Rioja

"The 2020 Rioja Blanco from Alegre Valgañón is composed from its customary blend of ninety percent Viura and ten percent Garnacha Blanco. The wine is bright and youthfully reticent today, but with some coaxing offers up a lovely bouquet of tart pear, lemon, white soil tones, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and impeccably balanced, with a fine core and soil undertow, lovely focus and bounce and a long, nascently complex and very promising finish. This is approachable today, but still very much a puppy and I would tuck it away in the cellar for five or six years and really let it blossom properly! Pierre Gerbais Champ Viole NV, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"Aurélien Gerbais has just launched this range of new, single parcel bottlings, all based on a series of soleras he has begun for each wine . . . . with the perpetual reserve cuvées having been started several years before and added to the base year. Each bottling is also a single cépage, with the Champ Viole parcel being planted to chardonnay and the solera for this bottling started in 2011. The vins clairs for this wine were aged in cask . . . and finished with a dosage of three grams per liter. It delivers a splendid nose of pear, delicious apple, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, fresh-baked bread and just a touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and zesty, with a full-bodied format, a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding mineral drive and cut, snappy acids, pinpoint bubbles and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. This could do with a year or two in the cellar to let its acids relax a bit more, but in a pinch, it is already pretty tasty. A fine new range from Monsieur Gerbais." 92 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Clos Vernay 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais

"The 2016 Fleurie Clos Vernay wafts from the glass with a nuanced bouquet of raspberries, wild plums, dark chocolate and loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and quite concentrated, framed by elegantly fine-grained tannins that nevertheless suggest this is a wine that will go the distance, much like the family's Volnays." 93 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"A markedly more complex if not more elegant combination offers up notes of both red and dark raspberry that are cut with hints of earth and pepper. "Aromas of citrus blossom, fresh peach, pears and warm pastry introduce Jeandeau's 2017 Viré-Clessé, a medium to full-bodied, lively and precise wine that's elegantly textural but decidedly incisive by the standards of the appellation. With time in the glass, musky nuances emerge, hinting at the presence of some muscaté selections of Chardonnay; Jeandeau opts to raise these in tank, while the remaining two-thirds are vinified in barrel. de Forville Barbaresco 2019, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"This is the standard-bearer for the estate. The vines are planted exclusively within the confines of Barbaresco and are scattered among various 'crus', including Rabaja and Pozzo. The average age of the vines is 35 years. After harvest, the juice is fermented in stainless steel for approximately two weeks; then the wine is racked into large oak 'botti' to age at least 18 additional months and frequently longer before being bottled. This wine is emblematic of the work done at the De Forville estate: the wine is rigorously traditional, marrying the finesse of Barbaresco with the alluring aromas and flavors of truffle, earth, berries, rose, tar and leather and carrying, most important of all, a backbone of sweet, dusty tannins that give length and breed."  Importer Notes

Vinedos del Jorco Las Enebradas Navalgordo 2017, 0.75L
Grenache from Paraje del Jorco, Castilla y León

"I was really looking forward to the 2017 Las Enebradas, because the first vintage, 2016, was the revelation of my last review of the zone of Gredos. I was quite surprised because the profile is very different: the wine has a lot more color and up to 2% more alcohol. Nacho Jiménez, one of the partners, explained that the profile of the 2016 vintage was exceptional and hard to replicate, as yields were higher and it rained just before they picked the grapes, so the wine is a lot lighter. 2017 was very different, a lot warmer and with lower yields, and the grapes delivered a concentrated juice with a lot more color, tannin and alcohol. It has a more Mediterranean profile, more in line with the rest of the wines. This fermented with 50% full clusters and temperature control and matured in one 500-liter oak barrel. Despite the higher ripeness and the headier character, the wines from Navatalgordo have a different texture and fine thread, the finesse of a cooler place and sandy soils at higher altitude (even if the vines are south-facing here), and you see it when tasting this next to the wines from Cebreros. It's more elegant and fresher. 570 bottles were filled in August 2019." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Tameran Vijariego Gran Canaria Blanco 2020, 0.75L
Vijariego Blanco from Gran Canaria, Canarias

"Vijariego Blanco, also known as Diego, is thought to have been introduced in the Canaries from Andalucía and is not a mutation of Vijariego. There are multiple spellings, most notably Vijariego and Vijiriego, even Bujariego in La Palma, but this name is not allowed anymore. It’s a grape with high acidity and lowish alcohol, so it’s often used for sparkling wines. The 2020 Vijariego Blanco is only 11.2% alcohol with a low pH of 3.14 and notable acidity, 7.5 grams (measured in tartaric acid per liter), so it's a light and sharp wine true to the variety. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-liter oak barrels, where it matured with lees for 10 months. It's floral and vibrant, the latest-ripening grape here, with more freshness. It's a wine that should develop nicely in bottle. This is a little shy compared with its siblings, but it's a wine that will gain with time in bottle. 1,320 bottles were filled in June 2021." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Dominio de Pingus Ribera del Duero PSI 2020, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"The unbottled sample of the 2020 PSI feels young, juicy, very fruit-driven and clean. 2020 was an unusual vintage, first of all because of COVID-19, but it was a year with lots of light, plenty of flowers and a beautiful spring. They were able to harvest quite early and finished two days before the abundant rains (except in Soria, which is a different story) that started on the 20th of September. In Ribera, there will be two different harvests: the wines before the rain and those from after. So, this is very healthy, aromatic and floral, with a spark of freshness but also ripe and round. It's going to be a crowd-pleaser. It has a bright ruby color, with some 10% Garnacha. It somehow has less Tempranillo character. Volumes are similar to 2019, with around 350,000 bottles that they expect to bottle around June 2022." 92-94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Grosjean Torrette 2020, 0.75L
Prëmetta from Valle d'Aosta, Valle d'Aosta

"Peppery fresh and perfumed with lavender, crushed wild berries and rose, the 2020 Torrette makes a wild first impression. It’s texturally deep and almost salty in character, with gobs of tart red and black currants under an air of violet inner florals. Residual acids keep the expression lively and mouth watering through the finale as the 2020 finishes with hints of licorice and a dash of sour citrus. Le Potazzine Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"The ladies of Le Potazzine make a terrific bottle of Brunello, and their high-elevation vineyards are especially important in maintaining freshness in a scorching-hot vintage such as this. The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pretty succession of wild berry, cherry and plum aromas, along with light spice, crushed flowers and perfumed potting soil. This wine is also distinguished by a touch of bay leaf and maybe a warmer note of cured tobacco as well. This is an impressive effort (with 16,000 bottles released)." 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Even if the wine is still extremely young, the palate already shows a complexity and depth that is breathtaking, with a lively mouthfeel, a spark of freshness and very pure and clean, defined flavors. This is a traditional Rioja in the making with elegance and complexity, nuance and subtleness. 2,900 bottles were filled in February 2022, after 14 months in barrel." 96+ Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Far Niente Chardonnay 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Napa Valley, California

"Far Niente Chardonnay is a blend of superlative Napa Valley vineyards located in Coombsville, a cool growing region nestled in the rolling countryside and protected by the hills east of the city of Napa. Coombsville offers the characteristic climate of Carneros, with less wind, along with deeper, well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils. The combination of these spectacular vineyards results in the subtle, tropical flavors, complex aromas, and uncommon richness that have long been associated with Far Niente Chardonnay." Winery Notes

For ultimate ripeness, harvest frequently takes place in the first days of October. Fermentation is at controlled temperatures in stainless steel cuves. The wine, approximately 6,000 bottles annually, is bottled 9 to 12 months after harvest and is released after several months of additional aging in bottle. Guy Larmandier Cramant Grand Cru Brut Zero Blanc de Blancs NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne

"The non-dosage disgorgement of Larmandier’s Cramant is a different beast from the “classic” version: less rich but more driving; less broad but longer in the mouth. The total absence of any sense of sweetness allows the limestone to take center stage, and it presents in a more piercing and saline manner than the above wine. Despite its relative rigorousness and austerity, however, this is by no means a difficult wine. Rather, it will appeal to those who relish the sort of palpable, intense mineral character Champagne is capable of when made in such a straightforward fashion." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines LC18 Extra-Brut NV, 0.75L

"The NV Extra Brut Les Béguines LC 18 is a wine of immense charm and generosity of spirit. Mingling aromas of walnuts, fenugreek, pear, yellow orchard fruit, licorice, white flowers and buttery pastry with evocations of peach and apricot, it's full-bodied, fleshy and voluptuous, with a broad and textural attack that segues into an ample, enveloping core, concluding with a sapid finish. "These were the nicest grapes I've ever seen when assessed simply as fruit," Prévost remarks, contrasting the 2018 crop with the smaller berries and thicker skins of, for instance, 2015 "which were great grapes from which to make wine." 95 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino Fracanton 2015, 0.75L
Sagrantino from Montefalco, Umbria

"The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Fracanton takes the vibrant character and depth of Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino and dials everything up a notch. Like a florist shop on the nose, this is literally bursting with rose and violet perfumes complicated by crushed rocks and tart cherries. Rich with soft contours yet full of life, it’s the tantalizing acidity that really shines here, as it enlivens the ripe red fruits and sweet herbal tones within. Hints of licorice stain the senses throughout the finale, as the 2015 finishes potent yet incredibly fresh. The tannin management here is unbelievable. The fruit for the Fracanton goes through spontaneous fermentation in open-topped clay amphorae without sulfur or temperature control, after which it's matured in large oak botti for another five years." 95+ Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

There’s an undeniable elegance to its silky textures, complimented by a polished display of ripe red berries, plums and blood orange, but also a core of brilliant acidity that keeps the expression incredibly fresh. Ronco Severo Artiul Merlot Riserva Friuli Colli Orientali 2017, 0.75L
Merlot from Colli Orientali del Friuli, Friuli Venezia Giulia

"The dark and spicy 2017 Artïûl wafts up with balsam herbs, allspice and cloves complementing black cherry and hints of cocoa. This enters the palate with prominence through it's mineral-tinged red berries that saturate but also energized by brisk acids. It displays tremendous length with grippy tannin yet also remains primary and intense. Hold on to your seat today with this high-test, varietal Merlot, yet time should mellow it out and unlock further depths." 93 Eric Guido, Vinous

Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bolgheri 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Syrah from Bolgheri, Tuscany

"Fabio Motta is one of the best performers in Bolgheri among the small producers of the next generation. Almost ready with his new winery, it represents a kind of garagiste in the appellation. He ferments all the wines with natural yeast and manages careful extraction and maceration. His original blend for Le Gonnare sees an addition of Syrah to complete the 85% of Merlot and is aged in 1/3 new French oak barriques. Intense and perfumed it shows kiwi peel and cedar wood aromas, loaded with restrained cassis and bitter orange flavour. The attack is dense and ripe with elegant texture and chewy tension on the finish." 95 Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine

"Extremely complex and darkly primary in profile, with alternating notes of black plum, blackberry, incense, black tea leaves, licorice stick, and sandalwood. Bodegas Antidoto Ribera del Duero 2020, 0.75L

It looks like a superb vintage for this wine that still shows the wild and faintly herbal side that makes me think of a Northern Rhône—juicy and very fine with chalky tannins and a dry and varietal finish. Ferrando Carema Etichetta Bianca 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Carema, Piedmont

"If there is any wine that defines the Ferrando “oeuvre” it is this one: the white label Carema. No single wine in our portfolio is more illustrative of our work than this brilliant rendition of Nebbiolo. Produced exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape planted in a series of vineyards that sit beneath Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) in a broad amphitheatre with full southern exposure overlooking the river, Dora Baltea, that runs from the snow-capped mountains south through the Valle d’Aosta into the northwestern range of Piedmont slicing the city of Ivrea in half. The vines are trained in a special way on pergola (known as “tupin” in local dialect) to obtain maximum exposure to the sun in this high altitude district and are planted to soils that are dominated by slate. The appellation of Carema is extremely small: only 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres) are planted to the vine..." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis Vaillon 2009, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2009 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon offers up aromas of waxy citrus, beeswax, fresh peach and dried white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate with lively acids and a broad, expansive finish. Defaix's 2007 and 2008 Vaillon bottlings are still quite tight, but the 2009 is already wide open. On my most recent visit to the Defaix winery, I tasted with Paul-Etienne Defaix, the 15th generation of the family to perpetuate the domaine. Demand for the wines is high. The estate's 2010 premiers crus were bottled this year, with plans to release them once the 2009s, reviewed here, are sold out. While I knew Defaix practiced very long élevage, I confess I hadn't quite realized just how long, but a tour of the winery revealed tank after tank, full of Chablis patiently awaiting its moment in the limelight. Since my last visit, 2007 and 2008 have both come and gone, but I tried examples of both and found much to admire. The 2009s, on first encounter, are richer and more developed in style, as is to be expected of that warmer, more giving vintage." 92 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Ficomontanino Toscana Rosso Granomelo 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Tuscany

"Dusty cherry and crushed fall leaves evolve slowly into a deeper display of citrus-tinged raspberries, cinnamon and sweet white smoke as the 2018 Rosso Granomelo blossoms in the glass. This seduces with a silky wave of pure, ripe red berries and spices, as brilliant acidity lends vibrancy and saline-mineral tones add a salty flair. The 2018 has energy to burn, coming across as primary and wild, yet also refined. An herbal twang and grippy tannins collect toward the close. It leaves the palate classically dry, caked with an almost-chalky coating; however, it’s mouthwatering all the same. The contrasts here keep you guessing with each tilt of the glass, a mix of sheer drinkability and noble stature. This is a gorgeous glass of Sangiovese. The Granomelo hails from Ficomontanino’s Melogranino vineyard. It goes through spontaneous fermentation with a two-month maceration, and then refines completely in concrete. I’ll be following this wine closely in the vintages to come. A selection of inspired Tuscan wines arrived from Maria Sole at Ficomontanino. This is a 12-hectare property located in the extreme southeast of Tuscany, bordering Umbria and Lazio. In fact, geographically speaking, the climate here is closer to northern Lazio and mountainous Umbria than it is to Tuscany. The vineyards were originally planted by Maria Sole's grandfather in the 1960s, yet winemaking was more of a hobby for him. She took the reins of the family farm from her father after being bitten by the wine bug and was inspired by the likes of Tenute Dettori in Sardinia. Her education at Slow Food’s University of Culinary Arts at Pollenzo is also a huge influence in the winemaking here, choosing natural practices in the vineyards, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations, neutral aging vessels, no fining or filtration, and a minimum use of sulfur. In the end, Maria Sole really seems to be onto something, delivering a transparent and honest representation of terroir." 93 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

The 2017 is the eighth harvest of pinot meunier composition for this beautiful cuvée and it is another gorgeous young wine. Montanet-Thoden Bourgogne Vézelay Galerne 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne Vézelay, Burgundy

Henri Perrusset Macon-Villages 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Macon, Burgundy

"Henri Perrusset’s vineyards and home are located in the small town of Farges-les-Mâcon, on the northernmost spur of the limestone subsoil that characterizes the appellation of Mâcon. Farges is not far away from the village named (believe it or not) Chardonnay. The limestone in Farges is more marly than the compact limestone farther south in Pouilly-Fuissé. It is hard and intensely white, but breaks apart into small pieces and it is loaded with quartz and marine fossils as well. This type of soil is easier to work despite all the stones, provides great drainage for the vines, and gives the wines their grainy minerality. Our Mâcon-Farges bottling comes uniquely from a parcel of old vines, while the Mâcon-Villages is a custom blend of all his other holdings around Farges. These are Chardonnays with the ripeness and intensity level of a Pouilly-Fuissé or even a Saint-Aubin, with the particular goût de terroir of Henri’s corner of Mâcon." Importer Notes

Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2013 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard doesn’t have quite the drama, depth of flavor or profound depth of the 2012. This dark plum/ruby-colored wine offers displays crisp acids as well as notes of Chinese black tea and orange rind, and builds incrementally in the mouth to a medium to full-bodied finish. By Marcassin standards, it’s just a brilliant wine rather than a compellingly great one. What an extraordinary tasting this was at the Marcassin winery just north of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County. Just when you think the duo of Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer can’t make greater wines, they bowl over the taster with an array of exquisite quality that really must be tasted to be believed. Marcassin was probably California’s greatest Chardonnay after the famous Chalone winery fell from the pinnacle and onto hard times in the 1980s (and it has yet to rebound). Moreover, Marcassin set the bar for great Pinot Noir as well. And while both their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have many competitors these days (from the likes of Harford Court, Mark Aubert, Kistler, Kongsgaard, DuMol, Thomas Brown, Peter Michael, Martinelli and Luc Morlet, to name a few), John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley remain the reigning geniuses of these two varietals in California. Certainly, their meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and in the winemaking and élevage account for the quality, but they were among the pioneers who saw the unlimited potential from the Sonoma Coast, now a relatively crowded neighborhood. This was a remarkable tasting that simply blew me away, and I have been following their wines since the first Marcassins were made in the early 1990s. By the way, any doubts about aging potential should be crushed immediately, as even in the most challenging vintages in California, Marcassin Chardonnays and Pinots have aged as well as, if not better than just about any grand cru white Burgundy. For example, 1995 and 1996 Chardonnays, particularly those from the Lorenzo Vineyard, are incredibly youthful and dynamic, and the Marcassin Estate Pinot Noir, even from vintages such as 1998, is simply amazing. The three Chardonnays tasted include two perfect wines. Perhaps the closest comparison is not to anything made in California, but a Corton-Charlemagne in a top vintage from the famous Jean François Coche-Dury." 94 Points Robert Parker

Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Woodsy wildberries, plum and flowery undergrowth are nicely contrasted by a hint of camphor as the darkly alluring 2018 Rosso di Montalcino comes to life in the glass. This is a silky and pure expression of Sangiovese, showcasing mineral-tinged red berries and savory spices that slowly saturate the palate with youthful concentration. It leaves a coating of sweet tannins that create a classically dry impression while not getting in the way of the 2018’s inherent lively personality. Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon Tanbark Hill 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain District, California

"It's telling that even Togni's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tanbark Hill Vineyard—the early-drinking wine—needs a few years in the cellar. The barest hint of bell pepper accents bold cassis fruit and notes of wild thyme on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is fairly open and generous, with enough suppleness to suggest only five years of cellaring will be necessary. Classically styled, it's streamlined in shape and long on the finish, ending with mouthwatering acids and soft tannins." 92+ Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was just bottled this past summer. It is of course a very young wine, but possesses tremendous aromatic nuance and freshness to play off a core of huge dark fruit. Readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is an imposing, vertical Cabernet that needs years to be at its best. Thevenet & Fils Blanc de Blancs de Chardonnay Brut NV NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Serrières, Ardèche

"A delightful sparkling wine built exclusively from Chardonnay (younger vines of 20 years of age) harvested from parcels in the village of Serrieres on the border with Pierreclos. The vineyards are west facing and are planted to sandy soils. Only 6000 bottles are produced annually, a good portion of which come to the USA. Depending on vintage conditions, the malo-lactic fermentation is sometimes blocked in order to maintain the proper high level of acidity. Cameron Pinot Noir Abbey Ridge Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills, Oregon

“Cameron might not be a familiar name internationally speaking, however, certainly within Oregon and among cognoscenti, John-Paul Cameron is a bastion of artisanal winemaking when, around him, deluxe, state-of-the-art wineries are sprouting. Sure, these new arrivals unintentionally make Cameron's estate look a bit ‘shabby,’ but their wines are anything but. In some ways their ethos reminds me of Jean-François Coche... John-Paul was out doing the rounds when I visited, delivering his limited production wines directly to long-standing clients, apparently his favorite weekly chore. That again reminded me of Coche-Dury - a renowned producer whose loyalty remains with his longstanding customers. John-Paul does not appear concerned with pursuing high prices for his wine or creating a brand image. He just makes the wines in a simple manner and then delivers them to contented customers. I was met by assistant winemaker Tom Sivilli and their 17-year-old moggy that is still doing his bit by catching mice. There is no tasting room facility here and because they are so busy, they rarely accept visitors, so I tasted the small number of bottled wines up in the kitchen and then descended down to the barrel cellar to taste from barrel …. Tom opined that the 2014s will benefit from a little more ageing in barrel, more than the usual 11 months that the Oregon Pinot Noirs are given, and they will be bottled this coming August. I also asked Tom about their methodology towards picking: ’We don't pick on Brix,’ he explained. ‘We pick when the color is starting to bleed out of the skin and when the pH goes up. We go out into the vineyard, taste the seeds and the fruit. Usually we are early.’ John-Paul Cameron's wines comes highly recommended.” Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste Di Rose 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"With fruit from higher-elevation vineyards in the village of Barolo, the 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is quite elegantly downplayed and fragile. The wine reveals wild berry, cassis and lots of blue flower or lilac. A pretty mineral note recalls crushed limestone and is present through the long and polished mouthfeel. This wine overperforms, considering the challenges of this vintage that saw extreme weather, from spring frost to scorching summer temperatures. These vineyard sites performed better than most. Some 4,800 bottles were released." 94 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose has bright aromatics of candied raspberry, apricot, anise, and dusty earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and notes of dried wild strawberry, fresh roses, and mineral-rich earth. This wine is open and inviting, while maintaining freshness and drive. Drink 2024-2040.<!--more-->The G.D. Vajra estate is based within the commune of Barolo, where Giuseppe and Aldo Vajra helm the winemaking responsibilities. Giuseppe, who took more of a leadership role in 2008, has been instrumental in continuing to develop the family estate, while Isonzo Vajra leads in vineyard management. Most recently they have completed the expansion of their cellar space, and they are also releasing their wines a touch later to allow the additional time in bottle to soften any harsh edges. As of the 2019 vintage, both the G.D.Vajra and Luigi Baudana estates are certified organic." 94 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is pretty, supple and inviting. Some of the tannins need to resolve, but this is a young Barolo after all. The Coste di Rose doesn't have the sensuality of the Albe or the pedigree of the Viole, but it nevertheless has so much to give. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint, crushed rocks and sage are some of the many notes that linger. I won't be surprised if the 2017 is even better than this note suggests once it softens a bit." 93 Antonio Galloni, VInous

Valdesil Pezas da Portela Godello 2018, 0.75L
Godello from Valdeorras, Galicia

"Pale, green-tinged yellow. Fresh pear, white peach and orange zest on the nose, with honeysuckle and mineral notes adding lift. Bright and sharply focused in the mouth, offering incisive citrus and orchard fruit flavors complemented by suggestions of fennel and quinine. Smoothly melds power and vivacity and finishes very long and nervy, showing outstanding clarity and minerally persistence. (Drink between 2021-2027)" 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous

"The barrel-fermented Godello 2018 Pezas Da Portela has a more golden color and a creamy nose, spicy and somehow flinty, not oaky. It fermented and matured with lees and bâtonnage in French barriques for six months. The palate reveals complex flavors; it's nuanced with a mixture of mineral and gunpowder-like notes with notions of tangerine peel, quince paste and dried flowers, with yellow rather than white fruit. This comes from a myriad of small plots in the village of Portela, where the family Prada Gayoso originated. Serious, seamless and expressive Godello. 8,000 bottles produced. It rested in tank for one year before it was bottled in February 2020. Vinas Serranas El Canchorral 2019, 0.75L
Rufete from Castilla y León, Castilla y León

"The 2019 El Canchorral is a blend of Calabrés (Garnacha), Aragonés (Tempranillo), Verdejo Negro, Rufete Blanco, Palomino, Moscatel and other grapes planted 85 years ago on degraded pink granite soils. This is the only wine that ferments with 100% full clusters. It has a lot of white grapes and is more floral, with less alcohol (it's 13.5% even in this riper year), more acidity and a lower pH. It is more floral à la Fleury and very expressive, as they can use very low doses of sulfur in this wine given its higher natural acidity (possibly because of the white grapes). This comes from a very old vineyard, and the varieties feel very integrated and complement each other. It comes through as complex and nuanced, a little riper and showier than the 2018. The palate reflects the effect of the stems in the vinification a little. All of these single-vineyard wines matured in used oak barrels for some 15 months in 2019. Around 1,500 bottles were filled in May 2021." 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerretta 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"A sweet perfume lifts from the 2017 Barolo Cerretta, with fresh violets, kirsch, cinnamon, and sage. The palate is energetic with forward fruit through the mid-palate with persistence, with tea leaf and present but well-integrated tannins. The Cerretta displays the elegance that is possible within the 2017 vintage. Drink 2022-2040. Since 2009, Luigi Baudana has been under the operation and ownership of the G.D. Vajra estate from Barolo. As with the Vajra estate, Giuseppe and Aldo manage the winemaking process, along with Giuseppe’s brother Isidoro, the vineyard manager. They continue to consult with Luigi for his understanding of the land and experience. They utilize primarily 15- to 17-hectoliter Slavonian barrels for aging, as the size of the cellar dictates. For the Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba bottling, selections are made from the crus of Baudana, Cerretta, and Costabella. With the 2019 vintage, they are now certified organic. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 96 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"A dark, somber wine, the 2017 Barolo Cerretta shows the more potent, brooding side of Serralunga. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, cured meats, cloves and menthol add to an impression of virile intensity and pure power. "The 2017 Barolo Ravera is gorgeous right out of the gate. I am so impressed with its depth and pedigree. Rose petal, sweet red berry fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Barolo of tremendous presence. Orange peel, cinnamon and cedar develop later, adding shades of dimension. Time in the glass brings out the wine's stature and power. The 2017 is going to be fascinating to follow. Today, it is just breathtaking. That's all there is to it." 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"The 2017 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is classy and elegant to the core. Medium in body and wonderfully translucent, the 2017 captures all of the finesse of this site. Naturally, the 2017 also shows the ripeness of the year, but it retains its sublime sense of poise. The 2017 Bricco delle Viole is one of the clear stand outs of the year. (Drink between 2025-2042)" 95 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Don Fulano Anejo Tequila NV, 0.75L
Tequila from Jalisco, Jalisco

"Don Fulano Añejo is a marriage of very old tequilas aged in French limousine and nevers oak casks that previously held wines. It’s deep and complex with dried fruits and spice elements like cardamom and allspice which complement elegantly the right touch of sweetness that comes from slowly cooked mature agave. Honey and caramelized nuts emerge from a long finish together with a refreshing light menthol. Great to wrap up a nice dinner." Producer Notes

Don Fulano Blanco Tequila NV, 0.75L
Tequila from Jalisco, Jalisco

"Don Fulano Blanco is a bright and colorful expression of highland agave. It’s fresh on the nose and yet profound with a beautiful elegance. There is harmony between a wide spectrum of aromas that only mature hillside agave offers; a myriad of delicate fruit notes is balanced by a light herbaceousness and a butterscotch oiliness. Reminiscent of damp red soil it opens the senses and awakens the appetite, it almost makes you want to chew it. A great aperitif or quintessence of a great cocktail." Producer Notes

Syrah / Grenache Noir / Mourvèdre from Paso Robles Willow Creek District, California

"Lots of red, blue, and black fruits as well as black pepper, iron, and smoky nuances emerge from the 2020 High Road James Berry Vineyard, a blend of 50% Syrah, 36% Grenache, and 14% Mourvèdre that’s all from the James Berry Vineyard in the cooler Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. Big Basin Vineyards Syrah Rattlesnake Rock 2016, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

"The 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a powerful wine. Red fruit, iron, chalk, white pepper, game and incisive tannins give the 2016 a real feeling of drive that distinguishes it in the range. This is an especially mineral-driven, savory, taut Syrah, with all the elements in the right place. Dried herbs, licorice and crushed flowers add aromatic intrigue. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 gains a bit more volume in bottle. It is such a promising wine. The Côte-Rôtie selection Syrah from John Alban works so well here." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"From the home estate in the Santa Cruz Moutains, the 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a firm, mineral-laced, yet concentrated and textured Syrah that's going to benefit from bottle age. Red and black fruits, spiced meat, bacon fat, and dried flower notes are just some of its nuances. A concentrated, classic mountain Syrah, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise . . ." 94+ Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2016 Rattlesnake Rock bottling of syrah from Big Basin is one of their estate vineyard bottlings, as these vines were planted in 2000 in this windy parcel that sits between thirteen hundred and fourteen hundred feet above sea level. The 2016 version includes one-third whole clusters, was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for twenty-one months in used, three hundred liter barrels. The cépages here includes two percent of viognier that was co-fermented with the syrah. The wine comes in at 13.9 percent octane and offers up a deep and properly reserved bouquet of cassis, black raspberry, grilled meats, pepper, a touch of black olive, fine stony soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with a superb core of fruit, firm, ripe tannins and outstanding balance and grip on the long, nascently complex and very, very promising finish. There is a strong vein of iron in the soils here and this really comes across on the backend here. This is outstanding syrah in the making, with plenty of structure and outstanding depth of fruit. Think of old school Hermitage with a different, stony soil signature." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Lady of the Sunshine Chene Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Edna Valley, California

"This vintage is a 50/50 split of dijon clone 667 and 115 from the steepest hillside blocks that sit on monterey formation rock bed. This site is naturally devigored and makes for concentrated, small clusters that achieve stem lignification early on. The grapes were fermented with 100% whole-cluster with light extraction during fermentation. The wine was pressed in our wooden basket press at dryness and aged for 10 months in neutral french oak barrels before being racked for the first time to bottle, without filtration. Think crushed raspberries, violets & dried rose petals with chalky tannin. 264 cases produced. Producer Notes

A Tribute to Grace Grenache Morro Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Grenache from Edna Valley, California

"The 2019 Grenache Morro View Vineyard offers tons of immediacy and sheer appeal. The decision to destem all the fruit worked so well here. Forward, bold and racy, the Morro View is one of the many compelling wines in this lineup. Red/purplish berry fruit, blood orange, spice and mint are all kicked up. The Morro View is one of the more resonant, ample wines in this range. (Drink between 2024-2034)" 94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

A Tribute to Grace Grenache Santa Barbara County 2021, 0.75L
Grenache from Santa Barbara County, California

"The Santa Barbara County Grenache was inspired by Fonsalette from Chateau Rayas. The wine represents two very different microclimates. The first vineyard is the Highlands with 3200 feet elevation. The second vineyard is Curtis which is tucked away in Foxen Canyon. The fruit was destemmed and each lot was fermented separately and aged for 16 months in neutral French oak. The resulting wine is elegantly structured and focused, and is an excellent introduction to Angela’s style." Producer Notes

Mas de Daumas Gassac 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot / Pinot Noir / Malbec / Nebbiolo / Dolcetto from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Languedoc Roussillon

"Dark ruby-garnet, with violet highlights and a wide, light rim. Elegant black forest berry confit, hints of ripe currant and dark cherry, and subtle noble wood spice underlain with candied orange zest and tobacco nuances. Full-bodied and very elegant and round, with fine, rich extract; showing heart cherry notes and ripe, integrated tannins, this is mineral and persistent, and still very fresh and youthful; this will continue to improve with years of aging in the bottle; this wine has class." 95 Falstaff Magazin, Aug 2020

"The 2018 Rouge opens with a burst of sweet red and purplish fruit that is immediately alluring. Medium in body and silky, the 2018 impresses with its understated finesse and total class. The 2018 can be enjoyed today for its primary fruit, but I would prefer to cellar it for a few years to gain a bit more nuance. It is such a pretty and effusive wine. Bright acids and persistent tannins, both Gassac signatures, linger. (Drink between 2023-2038)" 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Domaine du Closel Savennieres Les Caillardieres 2019, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Savennières, Loire

"The 2019 Les Caillardières is like a piece of beef cheek that needs softening up in the slow cooker; this is almost chewy. The 2019 is young and needs time in bottle to gain its mellow character. There are masses of concentration here in a medium bodied package with buckets of structure, line and length. A very impressive style, showing both variety and texture. You can expect a touch of pastry-like characters alongside florals and apple." 94 Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous

Francois Chidaine Les Bournais Montlouis Sur Loire 2020, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Montlouis sur Loire, Loire

"The 2020 Les Bournais is a silky, seductive wine that retains a sense of shape despite its ripeness. The appellation of Montlouis has lots of clay-flint, but this is clay-chalk, and the result is a round yet focused style with fine length and line. The barrel fermentation and maturation (just 10% new) doesn't impart any flavor but adds to the roundness and gives support to the wine. Fully dry, you can expect ripe apple, pear and a gentle lick of sweet brioche on the medium-long length. Sourced from clay-limestone soil. Drink: 2022-2034." 92 Points, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous
