95 JS. "This is one of the first great vintages of this Super Tusan wine from the great vintner family of Mazzei from Florence. It's an example of how for Super Tuscans, 1998s can often be the same quality or better than the legendary 1997s. The Siepi, which is about half sangiovese and half merlot, started out a little tight and earthy but after around 30 minutes of air it turned to pure fruit with cherries and raspberries and underlying chocolate. It was full, chewy and intense." JamesSuckling.com, October 18th, 2013 |
