"It is hard to believe that Vincent Laval’s bottling from les Hautes Chèvres made the switch from very old vine pinot noir after the 2009 vintage to (not quite so) old vine pinot meunier in 2010 and never missed a beat in terms of quality and aging potential. The 2017 is the eighth harvest of pinot meunier composition for this beautiful cuvée and it is another gorgeous young wine. The bouquet is bright, pure and complex, offering up scents of tangerine, apple, brioche, chalky soil tones, lavender, acacia blossoms and just a hint of oak in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and deep at the core, with lovely transparency and grip, pinpoint bubbles, precise focus, seamless balance and a very, very long, refined and complex finish. Great, great juice." |
