Boccella Taurasi Sant'Eustachio 2011, 0.75L
Aglianico from Taurasi, Campania

"These Aglianico grapes are grown via Avellinese pergola, bilateral guyot and spurred cordon. Aged 24 months in barrels and 24 months in bottle. The color is a beautiful, bright, ruby red. The nose is clear with notes of violet and licorice. On the palate, it is austere, juicy, and enveloping. The young and trenchant tannins are perfectly in tune with the evolution of the wine. This is salty, tense, nervous. Very long finish. Powerful wine, and I have high expectations." 92 Daniele Cernilli, DoctorWine.it, Jan 2013

Tre Monti Thea Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva, Emilia Romagna

"The 2019 Sangiovese Romagna Superiore Thea opens slowly in the glass with an understated mix of sage and dusty dried roses, giving way to nuances of strawberry and mint. This is silky and elegant in feel with mineral-tinged tart wild berries carried by zesty acids, as pretty inner violet tones form toward the close. A coating of fine tannins lingers through the lightly structured finale, but they are sweet and round as vivid raspberry and blood orange notes slowly fade. The Thea is a single-vineyard Sangiovese refined in tonneaux for nine months, 40% new. The 2019 is very attractive, but give it another year or two of cellaring for the best results. (Drink between 2024-2028)" 92 Eric Guido, Vinous

Bisson Marea Cinque Terre 2022, 0.75L
Bosco/Vermentino/Albarola from Cinque Terre, Linguria

"Made from a blend of several traditional local grape varieties: Bosco (60% of the blend), Vermentino (20%) and Albarola (20%). The vineyards that produce this wine are situated on south-facing slopes in the hamlet of Volastra in the town of Riomaggiore, the heart of the breathtaking Cinque Terre region. In this instance, [winemaker] Pierluigi Lugano opts to leave this cuvée on the lees for an extended period of time, respecting the old traditions of the region. The result is a fuller-bodied, earthy wine of immense character, almost briny, with a deeper golden tint to its color than is found in his other whites and marked by the aromas of heather, broom and juniper."

Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia 2019, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"Rich and generous, this red delivers cherry, raspberry, rose and sweet spice aromas and flavors. Harmonious and charming, with bright acidity and beautifully integrated tannins, this firms up on the long, vanilla-tinged finish." 95 Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator

"Rich in red and blue flower notes, delivering pleasure with the notes of lavender, passionflower, magnolia, and gardenia. A lot of citrusy nuances open the secondary notes. Medium- to full-bodied, extremely light, with gentle tannins of very fine grain and a harmonic, balanced finale with a smooth, progressive finish." 95 Raffaele Vecchione, WinesCritic.com

“Transparent ruby. Smells of roast chestnuts! Then it’s very tense with real grip on the palate. Massive grip in fact! Some palates may find this too dry but it tastes like classic Barolo to me. Still very youthful.” 16, Jancis Robinson, Nov 2023

Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia Colonnello 2019, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"Extremely fascinating on the nose alternating notes of strawberries, red prunes, lavender, hibiscus, karkadè, linden blossom, lime peel and passionfruit. In the background herbaceous hints colour the matrix green. Full bodied, perfectly polymerized tannins and a warm, enveloping finale which shows volume and tension, extending in the best possible manner, leaving a great gustatory persistency. Colonnello is a vineyard in Bussia with a prevalent amount of sand. Fermented in steel and refined in large Slavic oak barrels. Better from 2026." 98, Raffaele Vecchione, WinesCritic.com

Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia Colonnello 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“From the heart of Bussia comes a great classic of Barolo. The wine displays an intoxicating perfume of red fruits and yellow-fleshed fruits, violet, dried cherry, watermelon and liquorice, also with a bloody hint at the back. Integrated and tight-knit between fruit and acidity, with young, muscular but velvety tannins and a slightly bitter finish due to the magnesium in the soils. Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo Ghemme Collis Breclemae 2015, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Ghemme, Piedmont

"The 2015 Ghemme Collis Breclemae is going to be gorgeous, but it needs time, as it is going through and adolescent phase at present. Brooding and somber, with quite a bit of complexity, the 2015 certainly has a ton to offer. Wild cherry, tobacco, spice, leather and cedar all build as this powerful, strapping Ghemme slowly opens. All the 2015 needs is cellaring to be at its most expressive. (Drink between 2025-2040)" 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cascina Baricchi Barbaresco Riserva Rose Delle Casasse 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rose delle Casasse is a rich, heady wine that is going to need a number of years to come into its own. Time in the glass releases gorgeous aromatics to play off a core of dark red/purplish fruit, spice and licorice notes. There's tons of depth and character, but this is an uncharacteristically reticent 2017. Give this exotic beauty time. The aromatics alone are so inviting". 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2023

Ferrando Carema Etichetta Bianca 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Carema, Piedmont

"If there is any wine that defines the Ferrando “oeuvre” it is this one: the white label Carema. No single wine in our portfolio is more illustrative of our work than this brilliant rendition of Nebbiolo. Produced exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape planted in a series of vineyards that sit beneath Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) in a broad amphitheatre with full southern exposure overlooking the river, Dora Baltea, that runs from the snow-capped mountains south through the Valle d’Aosta into the northwestern range of Piedmont slicing the city of Ivrea in half. The vines are trained in a special way on pergola (known as “tupin” in local dialect) to obtain maximum exposure to the sun in this high altitude district and are planted to soils that are dominated by slate. The appellation of Carema is extremely small: only 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres) are planted to the vine..." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

On the full-bodied, delicious palate, velvety tannins wrap around succulent red cherry, raspberry compote, blood orange and star anise before an almost salty close. While it’s already almost accessible, a trait of the vintage, it has the freshness, energy and fruit to go strong for years. Drink 2026–2038." 96, Kerin, O'Keefe, Dec 2024

Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerretta 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"A sweet perfume lifts from the 2017 Barolo Cerretta, with fresh violets, kirsch, cinnamon, and sage. The palate is energetic with forward fruit through the mid-palate with persistence, with tea leaf and present but well-integrated tannins. The Cerretta displays the elegance that is possible within the 2017 vintage. Drink 2022-2040. Since 2009, Luigi Baudana has been under the operation and ownership of the G.D. Vajra estate from Barolo. As with the Vajra estate, Giuseppe and Aldo manage the winemaking process, along with Giuseppe’s brother Isidoro, the vineyard manager. They continue to consult with Luigi for his understanding of the land and experience. They utilize primarily 15- to 17-hectoliter Slavonian barrels for aging, as the size of the cellar dictates. For the Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba bottling, selections are made from the crus of Baudana, Cerretta, and Costabella. With the 2019 vintage, they are now certified organic. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 96 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"A dark, somber wine, the 2017 Barolo Cerretta shows the more potent, brooding side of Serralunga. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, cured meats, cloves and menthol add to an impression of virile intensity and pure power. Readers will have to be patient here, but there is certainly a ton to look forward to. This is another impressive showing from Baudana and the Vajra family." 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Produttori del Barbaresco Don Fiorino Barbaresco Riserva 2016, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"The 2016 Barbaresco Riserva will be available later this spring. It is introspective at the moment. although it is concentrated with licorice, fresh black cherry, cedar, and black pepper. It is a more brooding wine but retains its style, with leather, red plum, and balsamic, and as it opens it shows more fresh apricot. It is going to be a wine to hold onto and or drink over the coming two to three decades. As one of the most important and quality-minded co-operatives in the world, Produttori del Barbaresco is currently composed of 51 growers across Barbaresco. Founded in 1894 by Domizio Cavazza, the headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba, it was originally a collection of nine growers. Today the operations are managed by Aldo Vacca, who was formerly the assistant to Angelo Gaja for 15 years." 98 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"Incredible aromas of white truffle, meat, wet earth, lightly burnt orange peel and pure fruit. Medium-bodied and very compact, with a block of silky tannins that run through the palate and then come out at the end with a gorgeous texture. It’s very drinkable now, but will age wonderfully. This is a special release. They never made a serious blended riserva in their history. Spring 2023 release. Drink or hold." 98 JamesSuckling.com

Roagna Langhe Rosso 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont

""The 2018 Langhe Rosso is 100% Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco-designated vineyards. Dried red cherry, mint, spice, tobacco, dried leaves and worn-in leather all grace this super-expressive, ethereal Langhe Rosso. The 2018 comes across as a bit mature aromatically, so I would not push my luck on aging. Even so, it is a delicious wine for readers who want to experience a Nebbiolo with early tertiary complexity. In this vintage Luca Roagna was especially selective with what he bottled for his top wines, so production for the Langhe Rosso is nearly double what it is in most years." 90, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2023

Masseria del Pino I Nove Fratelli Etna Rosso 2019, 0.75L
Nerello Cappucio/ Nerello Mascalese from Etna, Sicily

"The 2019 Vino Rosso I Nove Fratelli takes a while to blossom, starting out dusty and coy with hints of dried roses and plum. Exotic savory spices come forward with time in the glass, along with notes of strawberry and smoke. In the mouth, it’s soft and fleshy at first, offset by a concentrated mass of tart wild berries and salty minerals under an air of inner florals. Tannins slowly mount, creating a youthfully dry impression through the finale, as sweet herbal notes, tobacco and echoes of ripe raspberries linger long. There’s simply so much going on here, yet the 2019 will require some time to come fully into focus. I Nove Fratelli is a blend of 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio, from 120-year-old pre-phylloxera vines, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500-liter oak barrels. Kofererhof Sylvaner R 2021, 0.75L
Sylvaner from Alto Adige Valle Isarco Eisacktal, Trentino Alto Adige Südtirol

"The 2021 Sylvaner R captivates, at first nuanced and understated, yet gains in volume and depth. Cardamom, stone dust and dried flowers complicate depths of crushed apricot and nectarine aromas. It washes across the palate with silky, nearly-oily textures. A stimulating, acidic core perfectly offsets a wave of mineral-tinged stone fruits and sweet spices. The 2021 resonates with salty tension, puckering the cheeks in its youthful state as lemon zest and green apple nuances fade. The 2021 is exciting to taste, but it's even more exciting to fantasize about what's to come with more bottle age. Brilliant."   94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Antinori Solaia 2019, 0.75L
Super Tuscan Blend from Toscana IGT, Tuscany

"Love the depth and restrained power on display here. Made for leisurely drinking over a few hours. Cocoa powder, liqourice, blueberry, smoked herbs and raspberry fruits. Tannins have texture and grip, highlighting a lemongrass and slate roughness to the finish, all given definition by a fennel, almost hoppy bitterness on the finish. The Antinori family, with director Stefano Carpaneto are making the most of a superb vintage with this wine, highly recommended, especially with an extra few years in bottle before opening." 98, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jul 2022

“This has a complex array of blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, dried herbs, slate, tobacco, olives and charred bark. Some dried roses and iodine, too. Medium-to full-bodied with firm yet refined tannins. Powerful, in an understated way. Long. Try in 2025.” 98, James Suckling, Jul 2022

“The Marchesi Antinori 2019 Solaia is another blockbuster success from Tuscany's leading wine estate. The blend sees a slightly higher percentage of Cabernet Franc and a slightly lower percentage of Sangiovese. The current mix is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Franc (which has been creeping up in recent years, especially as the climate changes). The soils at the Solaia vineyard are rich in Galestro rock, which is an especially happy pairing with Cabernet Franc in particular. Managing Director Renzo Cotarella tells me that that a vintage like 2019 is proof that the final character of a wine comes from its surrounding territory, not from the blend. This is a generous and extremely expressive edition with lots of dark fruit, spice and sweet tobacco. The tannins are beautifully velvety and soft. This is a beautiful wine that collectors will love.” 97, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2022

Antinori Tignanello 2021, 0.75L
Super Tuscan from Tuscany, Tuscany

“The 2021 Tignanello is every bit as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel and then just after bottling. Silky and polished, with exceptional finesse, the 2021 has all the pedigree become a modern benchmark for Tignanello and Italian wine more broadly. Bright dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all soar out of the gals, framed by a discreet touch of French oak that adds raciness. In some vintages, the elements are discernible. In 2021, it is the total harmony of the wine that makes the strongest and deepest impression. The 2021 spent 17 months in wood, three months in neutral oak during the malolactic fermentation and then 14 months (50% new) for the rest of its aging. Superb.” 98, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2024

“First made in 1971, this legendary Italian wine now celebrates its 50th birthday. Happy Birthday, Tignanello! The Marchesi Antinori 2021 Tignanello (made with 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc) pulls on all the heartstrings. To be released in May, the wine shows a quintessentially pretty taste profile with tart fruit flavors, redcurrant, tea leaf, heritage rose, crushed white pepper, licorice, nutmeg, clove and chopped mint. It opens slowly to reveal more richness and exuberance with time, becoming downright voluptuous and heady a short while later. The through line, however, remains the bright freshness and minerality of Sangiovese. Compared to the 2018 vintage (which I also loved), this vintage has more overall fruit weight and volume.” 98, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Mar 2024

Cerbaia Brunello di Montalcino 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

“A brickish red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino offers up notes of fruitcake on the nose, with dried fruits, walnuts, leather, and wet stones. Full-bodied, it’s firmly structured but well-balanced, with good concentration and ripe fruit holding it all together. This is an impressive wine from Cerbaia to drink over the coming 10-12 years. (Drink between 2024-2036)”. 93, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2024

Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bolgheri 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Syrah from Bolgheri, Tuscany

"Fabio Motta is one of the best performers in Bolgheri among the small producers of the next generation. Almost ready with his new winery, it represents a kind of garagiste in the appellation. He ferments all the wines with natural yeast and manages careful extraction and maceration. His original blend for Le Gonnare sees an addition of Syrah to complete the 85% of Merlot and is aged in 1/3 new French oak barriques. Intense and perfumed it shows kiwi peel and cedar wood aromas, loaded with restrained cassis and bitter orange flavour. The attack is dense and ripe with elegant texture and chewy tension on the finish." 95 Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine

"Extremely complex and darkly primary in profile, with alternating notes of black plum, blackberry, incense, black tea leaves, licorice stick, and sandalwood. The palate is splendid, combining notes of blood orange and cut cedar. Full bodied with soft tannins, good structure, and a horizontal finish . . ." 92 Raffaele Vecchione, mmt.WinesCritic.com

Ficomontanino Toscana Rosso Granomelo 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Tuscany

"Dusty cherry and crushed fall leaves evolve slowly into a deeper display of citrus-tinged raspberries, cinnamon and sweet white smoke as the 2018 Rosso Granomelo blossoms in the glass. This seduces with a silky wave of pure, ripe red berries and spices, as brilliant acidity lends vibrancy and saline-mineral tones add a salty flair. The 2018 has energy to burn, coming across as primary and wild, yet also refined. An herbal twang and grippy tannins collect toward the close. It leaves the palate classically dry, caked with an almost-chalky coating; however, it’s mouthwatering all the same. The contrasts here keep you guessing with each tilt of the glass, a mix of sheer drinkability and noble stature. This is a gorgeous glass of Sangiovese. The Granomelo hails from Ficomontanino’s Melogranino vineyard. It goes through spontaneous fermentation with a two-month maceration, and then refines completely in concrete. I’ll be following this wine closely in the vintages to come. A selection of inspired Tuscan wines arrived from Maria Sole at Ficomontanino. This is a 12-hectare property located in the extreme southeast of Tuscany, bordering Umbria and Lazio. In fact, geographically speaking, the climate here is closer to northern Lazio and mountainous Umbria than it is to Tuscany. The vineyards were originally planted by Maria Sole's grandfather in the 1960s, yet winemaking was more of a hobby for him. She took the reins of the family farm from her father after being bitten by the wine bug and was inspired by the likes of Tenute Dettori in Sardinia. Her education at Slow Food’s University of Culinary Arts at Pollenzo is also a huge influence in the winemaking here, choosing natural practices in the vineyards, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations, neutral aging vessels, no fining or filtration, and a minimum use of sulfur. In the end, Maria Sole really seems to be onto something, delivering a transparent and honest representation of terroir." 93 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Fonterenza Rosso di Montalcino 2020, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany

“In the Fonterenza style, the 2020 Rosso di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a wild bouquet as sour cherry and orange mingle with sweet herbs and exotic spices. This is full of energy yet soft and pliant. Vibrant acidity carries licorice-tinged red fruits. It tapers off long and structured, leaving the mouth watering and aching under its youthful structure. Patience will be required”. 92, Eric Guido, Nov 2023

Fontodi Chianti Classico DOCG 2021, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Chianti Classico, Tuscany

“The 2021 Chianti Classico is classic wine from the estate, done in the more restrained style that has become the norm here of late. There's plenty of Panzano richness, but more energy and less heaviness than what was common just a few years ago. Giovanni Manetti and his team have given the Chianti Classico gorgeous refinement. Spice, flowers, mocha and blue fruits linger, wrapped together by ultra-finessed tannins. The 2021 spent 20-22 months in barrel—65% cask and 35% neutral French oak barriques.” 94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2024

Fontodi Flaccianello Della Pieve 2010, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT, Tuscany

“From an iconic vintage that gave generously to all grape varieties across almost all of Tuscany, this wine ranks high on the Fontodi billboard of greatest hits. The 2010 Flaccianello della Pieve is a rock solid wine that sits firm and begins to peel slowly, each delicate layer at a time. It puts on quite a show with a solid core of dark fruit followed by smoke, spice, tar, licorice and delicate blue flower. On previous tastings of this vintage, I had scored it 97 and 97+ points, respectively. I'm going down one point at this sitting because the wine's fiber has unraveled, ever so slightly, at the edges. It still maintains that solid core, but the wine has taken an important jump forward in its evolution these past three years. Evidently, it is currently in a phase of relaxation and unwinding. Beautifully polished notes of Mediterranean herb and dried mint appear on the long, glossy finish. Giovanni Manetti compares the 2010 vintage to 2006 but considers this vintage slightly more approachable overall.” 96, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jul 2019

Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2012, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Colli Toscana Centrale, Tuscany

"The 2012 Flaccianello della Pieve, a selection of the estate's best fruit, presents a darker, more virile expression of Sangiovese. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is truly striking. Cinnamon, cloves, new leather, licorice and plums are some of the notes that soar from the glass. The 2012 is full-bodied and voluptuous, in classic Flaccianello style, but the new French oak is much better integrated than it often is at this stage, the result of a move to lower toast levels over the last few years. This is one of the finest young Flaccianellos I can remember. Simply put, the 2012 Flaccianello is a real stunner. Wow .... Vinous readers know I regard the Sorbo as Fontodi's flagship wine. While the 2012 is truly stratospheric, so is the Flaccianello. Judging by those two wines, it is clear Mother Nature smiled on Fontodi in 2012 ..." 97 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"Manetti calls 2012 'the vintage of two faces': summer was very hot until mid-August, when some rain brought cooler temperatures which slowed down ripening. In chillier zones than Panzano, Sangiovese struggled to ripen, he says. Even more expressive than when it was initially released, the 2012 has a decidedly exotic manner. Saffron, liquorice and cardamom overlay violets and earth. The tannins are polished with an intriguing chalky texture. It's compact and full but balanced, with a core of vibrant acidity and a long explosive finish. This has the bones to age brilliantly." 97 Michaela Morris, Decanter Magazine

Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino 2020, 0.75L
Brunello from Montalcino, Tuscany

"The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is bright and loaded with a fresh, buoyant personality focused on red cherry, cassis and bitter almond. There are hints of ferrous earth and crushed aspirin that add extra contours and edging to this fun, easy-drinking Rosso. I certainly wouldn't mind this bottle next to a classic wood-fired pizza Margherita, but only 6,000 bottles were made, so I imagine availability will be limited." 91, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

La Torre Brunello di Montalcino 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

“The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino La Torre is born of the earth, as a burst of crushed ashen stones and wild herbs give way to dried black cherries. This is surprisingly juicy and sleek, with vividly ripe red plums complicated by saline minerals and savory spice. Green olives resonate under an air of violet inner florals. The 2019 finishes long, structured and staining. A pleasantly rustic character here may not be for everyone, but I think it works pretty well”.  93, Eric Guido, Vinous, Nov 2023
