"I was thrilled to find a New Zealand red I could sink my teeth into with the 1999 Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced from 59% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Malbec, this is a medium to dark ruby-colored wine with a distinctive nose of ripe blackberries and lead pencil shavings. It is softly-textured and medium-bodied, offering lush layers of dark fruits interspersed with notes of licorice and asphalt."
