Lot 1662
Estimate: $90
Neck. 1990 Girard Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve -- Wine Advocate, Robert Parker (issue #89, October 1993): "A terrific offering from Girard. The 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon-Reserve "exhibits, [like the non-reserve cuvee,] "a saturated, opaque, dark ruby/purple color, an unevolved, but gloriously ripe, rich nose of cassis fruit and vanillin, and rich, full-bodied, tannic, backward flavors that reveal superb concentration and firm tannin . . ., but even more powerful, tannic, richer, and fuller. It is a huge wine, with fabulous sweetness of fruit and a blockbuster finish. Do not touch it before 1998; expect it to last for 20 or more years." 93 points.
