Not suprisingly, this is both fresher and more obviously youthful than the same wine in 750 ml though aromatically the two formats offer the same aromatic profile with a refined, elegant and lovely old burg nose reflecting spice, earth, leather, ample sous bois that introduces rich, mouth coating and sweet flavors that still retain excellent vibrancy and the classic '45 finishing structure on the hugely long finish. The magnum though has retained a much better sense of balance, particularly on the mid-palate as there is still more buffering material. This has always been a great wine but it remains one in magnum whereas it's tiring mildly in 750 ml.
