"The ’04 Amoureuses from Christophe is also excellent, with great purity and a very understated touch of the vintage herbacité fast fading into the past. The nose is very complex and classy, as it offers up scents of red and black cherries, fresh herbs, orange zest, a superb base of minerality, floral tones and a touch of espresso. On the palate the wine is fullish, pure and intensely flavored, with a rock solid core of fruit, tangy acids, moderate tannins and outstanding focus and grip on the pure, transparent and youthful finish. Structurally this is not that far from fully blossoming, but in terms of complexity and layering, I would opt to give it at least another five years in the cellar to let all of its refinement emerge. A superb ’04."
