96 NM "Tasted blind, the 1998 Haut-Brion Blanc served as a pertinent reminder of how this wine needs bottle age. Here it has a captivating bouquet of lemon curd, custard cremes, lemon thyme and minerals that just explode from the glass, later offering Japanese yellow plum and sherbet scents. The palate is creamy-textured with perfect acidity and fine tension. This is very harmonious and assured, sporting great depth on the marzipan-tinged finish that is long and sensual, and yet it is clear that this Haut-Brion Blanc will age with style and panache. Tasted April 2015." 96 Rp The 1998 Haut-Brion-Blanc (96-100) is a sensationally powerful wine with the texture of a grand cru Burgundy and the complexity afforded by the Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend.

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
In the Graves, the only Bordeaux appellation renowned for both reds and dry whites. Gravelly soils yield smoky, mineral reds and age-worthy Sauvignon-Semillon blends.
Yields crisp, aromatic whites with citrus, herb and grassy notes. It shines in the Loire, Bordeaux blends and around the world for its refreshing zip.
Prized both for age-worthy dry whites and, when affected by noble rot, the great sweet wines of Sauternes. It offers waxy texture and honeyed depth.
