". . . it stands as a testament to Jean-Claude Berrouet, who oversaw this wine literally straight from completing his studies. It still has a breathtaking bouquet that whisks you off your feet: vivacious kirsch, blueberry, truffle and cedar, more exotic and precocious than the 1961 yet without diminishing its delineation by one iota. The palate has exceptional balance with saturated tannin, perfectly judged acidity to counterbalance the extraordinary richness and sweetness of this Pomerol. Notes of vivid red fruit laced with fresh fig and date just electrify the senses, a little spicier than the 1961 towards the finish that exerts a gentle grip as it fans out gloriously. When Chuck D urged us not to believe the hype, he was not referring to the 1964 Petrus. Tasted at the Petrus dinner at Hide restaurant in London."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
A tiny, prestigious Right Bank appellation famed for opulent, velvety Merlot-based wines. Iron-rich clay soils yield some of the world's most coveted and concentrated reds.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
