"The 1993 Roty Charmes is a stunning wine, with less of the mammoth power of most vintages of this wine, but much more nascent finesse and complexity. The bouquet explodes from the glass with scents of sweet cassis, plum, blueberry, mocha, grilled meats, herbs, minerals and toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is quite full-bodied, but nowhere near as massive as is usually the case with this cuvee, with a great core of fruit, potential silkiness, firm tannins, and a long, complex and stunning finish. The 1993 Charmesâ sense of balance and depth of pure fruit should carry it nearly as long in the bottle as the more massively tannic renditions of this wine in vintages such as 1985, 1989, 1990 and 1995. This is great, great juice."
