"Champeaux is another of the very finest premier cru terroirs in Gevrey, and I never understand why it does not have quite the same cachet as some of the better known premier crus. To my mind it is one of the most elegant and complex wines of the village, and the 2005 from Jean-Marie Fourrier is stunning. The superb bouquet jumps from the glass in a refined conflagration of plums, black cherries, cocoa, just a touch of the Gevrey meatiness to come, mustard seed, a beautiful base of soil and a topnote of rose. On the palate the wine is deep, full and aristocratic, with a great core of pure fruit, brilliant focus, tremendous intensity of flavor, tangy acids and a very long, ripely tannic and velvety finish. Another tour de force premier cru."
