"Scents of lavender, green tea, and citrus zest lend nose-wrinkling prickle to the Schaefer 2009 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese A.P. #15, but then make for a striking yet somehow not at all discordant contrast with a dense palate of custardy richness, uncanny levity, and saturation of juicy citrus, pit fruits (including nectarine and cherry) and nut extracts (including pistachio and marzipan). The prodigious finish here perpetuates the tea-like, zesty, and fruit-skin notes, making for exhilarating invigoration, yet there is a luscious, metaphorically cool, and soothing side to it as well, and as the wine evolves from the open bottle, even a hint of mocha and caramel. Unfortunately there was only half a fuder of this beauty . . . "
