"The 1996 Merlot is a good value for this over-crowded/over-priced, often mediocre quality category. Ten percent Cabernet Franc has been added to the blend, resulting in a creamy-textured, ripe, mocha, berry, chocolatey-styled Merlot with good softness, excellent ripeness, and a pleasing, medium to full-bodied, savory finish."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
A large, geographically varied California region producing cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay near the coast and richer Zinfandel and Cabernet inland. Its wines range from elegant to bold.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
