“The 2002 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard (485 cases . . .) may be my favorite Jackass Vineyard Zinfandel made to date. It tasted just as compelling as its more expensive, limited production sibling, the Jackass Hill. Deep plum/purple-colored with a gorgeous perfume of currants, plums, figs, blueberries, and blackberries macerated in brandy, this full-bodied, rich, layered wine represents the essence of this varietal. There is not a hard edge to be found in this viscous, earthy, smoky offering . . . . There is nothing quite like it produced anywhere else in the world.”
