"This is a serious, backward, tight and very reserved effort that offers up elegant and pure spicy red pinot fruit aromas that lead to dense, powerful and structured flavors yet it remains an elegant and beautifully detailed effort culminating in excellent length. Unlike all of the prior wines where they could be approached now and enjoyed, this is clearly built for the long haul and will require plenty of bottle age to soften what is clearly some outstanding material but presently austere. If you do decide to investigate a bottle just out of curiosity, be sure to serve it with food to help buffer the mouth coating but not aggressive tannic spine. In short this is a really impressive effort because even though it's structured, it remains impeccably well balanced and in fact reminds me of a young Corton, which is high praise in my book. [from a blend of the best barrels from ABC's best vineyards bottled at 13.5%.]"
