"Far more interesting is the 1990 Cuvee Reservee. A huge nose of roasted peanuts and ripe, jammy cassis fruit makes for an uncomplex but enticing introduction. This deeply colored wine offers dense, thick, chewy, mouthfilling flavors that are full of alcohol and glycerin. A big, rich, relatively unformed Chateauneuf du Pape . . . . At present, there is no doubting its impressive sweetness and opulence of fruit."
