"Good full red. More laid-back, fresher aromas of plum, cherry, hot stones and smoke. Sweet and opulent, but more sharply delineated than the '89, with excellent concentration and grip. Firm, harmonious acidity. Longer on the finish than the '89, with considerable ripe, dusty, even tannins. Delicious already but should age slowly. The Mugas consider this the best vintage for Prado Enea since '81."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
Spain's noble red grape, producing structured, savory wines of red fruit and leather that respond beautifully to oak aging in Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
