"The 2006 Saffredi is the bombastic, kaleidoscopic wine it has always been. In fact at times it resembles a barrel sample, given its superb vibrancy and freshness! Dark wild cherries, herbs, graphite, spices, tobacco and leather come together beautifully in this focused, powerful Saffredi. Today the 2006 is decidedly virile and youthful, but there is no doubt it has the sheer depth of material to drink beautifully to age 20, and likely beyond. The 2006 is a marvelous Saffredi, but patience is required."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
