"Bright, saturated ruby. Flamboyant aromas of blackberry and raspberry liqueur, violet and bitter chocolate, with a hint of Islay scotch. Thick, sweet and exotic, with a texture of liquid silk. Began with a strong scotch-like barrel note, but with aeration the oak was rendered virtually irrelevant by the wine's explosive sweetness and extraordinarily deep core of sappy, liqueur-like, violety fruit. Conveys a strong suggestion of superripe grenache, and yet there's an almost Burgundian vibrancy to its extraordinary fruit. Finishes with toothcoating, supple tannins and superb persistence. This wine reportedly received no sulfur additions except for the bottling."
