"The Merlot Estate (500 cases, 100% Merlot) will be produced only in 1997. I am generally unimpressed with most California Merlots, but Montelena's 1997 exhibits a deep ruby/garnet color as well as dense, smoky, black cherry flavors, medium to full body, soft tannin, and a plump finish. Although not great, it is unquestionably very good Merlot."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
