"Full medium red, atypically deep for this bottling. Multidimensional nose combines raspberry, maple syrup, rose petal and chocolate cake. Supersweet, round and exotic, with captivating, highly complex flavors of raspberry, citrus peel, chocolate and mint. Always a fascinating wine, but this 1999 version is unusually lush, concentrated and long, and not a bit heavy. Togni himself seemed quite pleased with this vintage, opining that "we seem to have brought a lot of ripe fruit into the bottle." There's just a barrel and a half of this elixir, solid mostly to the winery's mailing list customers."
