"A more near-term drinking prospect is the 2002 Claret. At age 10 it is still a youthful wine, but it is revealing more charm and openness than its sibling. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by notes of black currants, sweet cherries, loamy soil, fresh herbs, spice and an attractive floral character. This elegant cuvee reminds me of a more delicate style of Graves or Margaux. Medium-bodied, deep, impressively long and well-balanced, it is currently emerging from adolescence and should continue to drink well for another 10-15 years."

An aromatic red grape lending perfume, red fruit and a leafy, savory edge. It thrives in the Loire and as a key blending partner in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Emilion.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
