"Good full red with a hint of development. Explosive, multidimensional aromas of raspberry, wild spices, meat, mocha, minerals, woodsmoke, truffle and underbrush; warm and inviting. Lush, sweet and voluminous; like liquid velvet but kept fresh by ripe acids. Finishes with superripe but serious tannins that coat the entire mouth. The longest wine yet of the series. In comparison, the '97 is even more roasted but still very young. 'A big crop, ripe but not overripe. The skins ripened before the sugars.'"
