"The bottle of the ruby-colored 1999 Chinon Les Clos tasted for this report was not subjected to filtration, whereas those found in other countries will have undergone that fruit-stripping process. The wine exhibited delightful red cherry and blueberry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, ripe, and loaded with rich, sweet fruit as well as ripe tannin, this softly-textured, delicious Chinon is an excellent example of what can be accomplished in this region, even in difficult vintages."
