"Bruno Giacosa now owns a parcel of the renowned Asili vineyard in Barbaresco, from which he has fashioned a gorgeously elegant 1995 Barbaresco Bricco Asili. The color is a deceptively light ruby with some amber at the edge. The nose offers aromas redolent of kirsch, dried Provencal herbs, new saddle leather, and smoke. In the mouth, Asian spice and soy make an appearance in the rich, jammy cherry flavors that also offer an intriguing tomato-like characteristic."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces Nebbiolo of slightly more elegance and approachability than neighboring Barolo, offering perfume, finesse and firm structure.
