"Good dark red. Pungent, expressive, superripe aromas of cassis, coffee, minerals, caramel and oak spice. Then surprisingly suave in the mouth, despite being quite closed after the bottling. As with the Miserere, the wine's flesh is a bit stunted by its acids. Seems quite fresh and nicely balanced, but this wine is shocked by the bottling and will need retasting. But surely outstanding."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
A rugged Catalan region whose steep llicorella slate slopes produce dense, mineral Garnacha and Carinena. Low yields and old vines give wines of great intensity and concentration.
One of only two wines with Spain's top DOQ status, yielding dense, mineral Garnacha and Carinena from steep slate slopes.
