"There are a 'whopping' 75 cases of the late harvest 1995 Dol'c de l'Obac. A pruny, rich curiosity, it is reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of top Italian Amarone and luxurious French Banyuls. It is extremely full-bodied, and oozing with glycerin, fruit, and extraction . . . . The wine is clearly meant to be drunk at the end of a meal, or with cheese. While the tiny quantities produced make this review somewhat academic, this is an amazing effort that should age beautifully . . ."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
A rugged Catalan region whose steep llicorella slate slopes produce dense, mineral Garnacha and Carinena. Low yields and old vines give wines of great intensity and concentration.
One of only two wines with Spain's top DOQ status, yielding dense, mineral Garnacha and Carinena from steep slate slopes.
