"The 2005 Gold Kap #8 from the Rausch is a significant step up from the regular 2005 Auslese in terms of mineral-derived aromatics and flavors, and yet the botrytis level here is also higher (again highlighting this uncanny characteristic of the 2005 vintage). The bouquet is simply stunning, offering up a glazed mélange of apples, peaches, white grape, a brilliant expression of slate and apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is very full, very, very minerally and bristling with acidity. The core of the wine is a rock of riesling, the focus is outstanding, and the very racy finish offers up stunning grip and complexity. This is another gold kap that is eiswein-like in its texture, and yet offers more nascent complexity than is often found in young eiswein. A stunning wine."
