âJean-Marc Blain is the senior of Jacques Gagnardâs sons-in-law [the younger being Richard Fontaine of Fontaine-Gagnard] though married to the younger daughter Claudine. He produced his first vintage in 1980. Part of the Bâtard plus the yield of the Montrachet used to be labeled as Edmond Delagrange-Bachelet, his wifeâs maternal grandfather. Blainâs white wines, like those of the rest of the family, concentrate on the finesse and the fruit and are delicate for Chassagnes. But they are all the more attractive as a result. This [Domaine] is a fine source.â
