"The 2009 Gaia & Rey (Chardonnay) is relatively laid back in this vintage. Soft, floral and perfumed, the 2009 opens up beautifully in the glass with juicy pears, apricots, white flowers and a gentle hint of spices. This is a pretty Gaia & Rey that impresses most for its textured, layered personality. The prominent oak and riper, more tropical style typical of prior years seems to be a thing of the past."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
